Walgreens PS1-looking crapomatic thing...

(I tried searching the forums, but found nothing...)

You know those crappy PS1-looking ripoff things (that most likely contain a NOAC) they sell at Walgreens? Does anyone know if those contain a Famicom slot?

(Just wondering if I should buy one & use it so I don't wear out the connectors on my almost mint-condition NES)

EDIT: Also, it'd be nice to play some import games, & maybe get a Famicom Disc System hooked up to it...

Hmmmmm.....my Walgreen's has nothing of the sort! How much do they charge you? And yes, it is almost certain that it has a cart slot under the "disc" lid; every PS1-style NOAC to date has a Famicom slot under there.

I checked their website but only found the Intellivision Plug and Plays. I'll take a trip to Walgreens before work today and scope it out though. I'm not an expert on the subject either but I doubt you could hook up a FDS to this as well.

NO, it looks like an original PS1. You kinda have to look for them (sometimes they don't stock them in the "Games" aisle. I think I saw it for around $25. Would've bought it when I saw it, but I didn't have the money...

EDIT: So...I can get a FDS & hook it up to the crappy black-market unit, right? If I remember correctly, the FDS hooks up through the cartridge slot...

Even though its a NOAC, it has a Famicom Cartdrige slot, so yes famicom games SHOULD work.

yes. and it was meant to conform to the shape of the famicom. so it might be hard to fit in there. But, it does most likely have the capability. Happy? =P

yeah it was an addon for the nes to use floppy disk. This meant bigger games becuase floppies held more data than the nes carts.

Are you guys kidding me, the Famicom Disk System WILL NOT WORK on a NOAC. Jeez, the FDS was an addon for the famicom that allowed special disks to be played on the unit, like the real SMB: 2, new Link, and others. It connect through the EXP. slot. There is no EXP slot on a NOAC, nor is the hardware to make it work, seriously guys, you were about to sucker him into wasting that money. You cannot use a FDS on a NOAC, read up on the FDS on wikipedia, and Klefmung, what kind of response was that? Luc is right, we DO need a WTF icon...
