I need advice, benheck.
my search for advice has led up to nothing. Maybe behnheck is different.
I have always sucked in school. In fact, in 1st grade, they thought I was mentally retarded. (they tested me in second to find a 156 IQ biting them) but, that changed nothing. My grades were alright in elementary school, but a chimp could get good grades in the elementary school I went to. When I got into sixth grade, I expected an alright report card, but I found Fs. STRAIGHT Fs. besides in band, but a chimp could pass band. Well, my mom took me to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist told me I had this disorder and that disorder and she put me on three pills every morning. Every time I got a chance to sit down, I fell asleep. When I was awake, I felt sick and nauseated. I couldn't live like that. So after a few months, I flushed them. in the second semester, 6th grade, my mom pulled me into homeschool. That was one of the few high points in my life. It was wonderful, nothing holding me back. I could learn it, but not have to do any of the pointless trivial stuff. I learned it just as well. (I am a witness, 95% of public school activities are freakin pointless) And I just worked a 2-3 hours a day. Before I knew it, I was learning algebra 1 as a sixth grader. I understood it perfectly. But, then, come seventh grade, back to public school with me. Well, they put me in all advanced classes (as it should be), but back in algebra 1. (that is the highest you can go as a seventh grader in "public school") I started to fall back on the grades, and here we go, they jump in and take my foreign language away (and some highschool credit!) in order to get me into some special ed crap. They took all of my advanced classes away from me except algebra 1. (how considerate?) After the schedule switch to special ed, they had to give me a new algebra 1 teacher though, and he was the cool one. In this new class, I met two friends and 15 enemies. Everybody made fun of me (but I usually managed to make them look rather stupid in some way, because they were idiots) And my friends there were cool about it. I also had to switch band classes. they put me in a cool class, where I met some friends there too. So, that is good. But the rest of the year still was horrible. I barely got by with Ds, the special crap helped me NONE. I spent the following summer playing runescape, as I had created my account that december. It was good. Until eighth grade. I go in. I had a cool science teacher, but I find myself in Algebra 1. For a third time. I complained my head off. The head of the math deptartment (who happened to be my algebra 1 teacher) agreed to try to if my 7th grade math teacher said I was ready. (she saw my end of course test grade, I made a 98, so how can she even refuse?) Yea, my previous math teacher was cool. he said they should definitely move me and they made a mistake trying to make me repeat. So, they moved me into Geometry. Fun, fun. (I actually found a new way to pass the time in that class. compass sharp point+pencil=fun, messy disection) So, people pretty much thought I was an idiot. (Until I brought in my NESp one day and they were proven wrong) But, meanwhile in science class (they moved me from the cool teacher when they put me into geometry) I was getting at least one detention per day. (usually more) It is impossible to do all of them, too! There were 2 detentions per week, but 5 days! Well, that sucked. And go into my reading/LA class.... It turns out I was making a 10% halfway through the 2nd quarter. They switched my schedule to my favorite teacher of that year. She was awesome. By the end of that quarter, I had brought my grade to a 91! On the last day of the quarter (right before christmas break), I hadn't finished my paper yet, and I had to do so. So, she kept me in for her last period. I had a good friend in that class. I sat next to him, and we talked through it. (I ended up having to email her the paper over break. =P) Well, 5th period has an assistant teacher. (she is also a study skills teacher, and study skills is the name of the class they put me in) So, she agreed to take me into her study skills class, which I would have every other day and band on the days I didn't have study skills. And she tried to switch me into classes with him to try to encourage me. (well, I also got outta detention man's class, which was good) Something happened with this new schedule though, that I had never anticipated before. well, there was a girl. She pretty much hated me for 6th and 7th grade. I didn't really care for her much either. But, we had to tolerate eachother. We sat at the same small table at lunch and right next to eachother in band. We started to tolerate eachother more. We eventually became good friends, but I started to fall in love. Wow, right? The great and powerful klefmung, going soft. It was around late April when I started to realize how in love I was. I mean, I had liked girls before, but that is because they looked good or whatever. This was it, genuine love. (I was aware of how much too young I was too fall in love, even though, I still couldn't help it) There was one complication: Her boyfriend. This was a standard middle school relationship, like any other. Lasts awhile, then ends. But, what is this? It lasts into the summer. But, I couldn't handle it anymore. That summer, I told her I liked her, and she took it wierdly, but she was ok with it as long as I didn't try anything. then..... I told her how much in love I was.... she took that like a shot through the heart. We have been dealing with this all summer, but I am still in love. And I don't get it. And, highschool starts early next month. the other problems I have haven't gone away either. What to do about those two things? Sorry for making you read my life's story to update you on my life. But, I had to. Kudos to the one who can read it all.

Wow, that's a lot of reading.
I did read it all, though.
Unfortunately, I can't help you. My mother pulled me out of school in 4th grade, and she has home-schooled me ever since. (I'm 16 now.) By 5th grade I was also learning college-level algebra. I, however, was always a straight-A student. She pulled me out because she doesn't like the way public schools are run, and she was fed-up with it. So, my life has been pretty boring, I mean, yeah, I'm smart and everything, but I don't have a friend to speak of as a result. I really don't ever go anywhere anymore. But, it's been like this for years now, so I'm used to it.
I had a small crush on a few girls in 4th grade, (not at the same time!) but that doesn't even count. So, I have no experience with girls, really... at all. All I can tell you is that being home-schooled really helped me learn at my own pace. I already knew everything I was being taught in school because of course, they have to cater to the dumbest kid in the class. But when I'm working one-on-one with either my mother or my older brother, it's so much easier to actually LEARN these things, you know?

Damn, kinda reminds me of myself! Until middle school, EVERYONE that didn't know me thought I was retarded! I think it was due to extremely abnormal social development. (In the 2nd grade, I still picked my nose, & I haven't dropped the habit of sucking my index finger (Instead of sucking my thumb, as most infants/toddlers do), & I've been mentally abused until the 5/6th grade...)
Currently, my social skills have developed to the point that I can communicate normally...
Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely intelligent, thanks to the international network of computers! Also, I watch a lot of educational television. As an example, I've known HTML since I was 9! (I only wish I still had the floppy disk that contained my first website...)

Well that sucks that you went through that crap. Can't say I've experianced anything like that, the root of all my grade issues were the fact I didn't do it. As for the girl... good luck. I can't give you any word of advice as I have non, and only that keep your head up as something or someone else could come along to change your situation in your favor.
Try to keep positive, that's one of the only ways I got thtough high school (think 5th circle of hell!).

I am a geek.
I went to public school from kindergarten to 5th grade. I was first tested to go to private school in kindergarten and I was accepted, yet the boy to girl ratio was bad and I was left out. Let's just say my whole time there sucked. Now I've been in private school since 6th grade (and I'm now going to be a sophomore). It's much better than public school.
I have in fact written a whole essay about the differences, I can post a PDF (with the school's names edited out) about the differences.

i dont know if its a permanant thing or not, i really hope it isnt becasue she was one of the best things in my life

And, I wrote this by memory. of my life. So, one thought came to mind, then another, and I just moved my fingers accross the keyboard.

Dont do that, it doesnt work. I've done that, and it backfired miserably.sam wrote:Yeah, just pretend you dont want them. Then they love it cause they think that you are so cool.
This girl called wanting to hang out, but i was with my guy friends watching a movie in my basement, so i told her what i was doing and that I could do stuff in an hour or so.
Consequently, in that time she called her girl friends and they went out to do something, and i got the shaft

I'm not going to give you any advice, but I'm going to state my veiw towards homeschooling.
1. It makes you socially inept: Ok, this isn't everybody, but many homeschooled kids don't have much social contact, and become hisitant to strangers, and don't know how to comunicate. This one kid LIVES at our camp (his dad is the director) and he's homeschooled. Possibly the most annoying kid I've ever known. He doesn't know how to hold a conversation or anything.
2. Bad work habits: Many people, when saying why they are homeschooled, say it's to work at their own pace, or something along those lines. The problem is, the minute you say to your boss that this deadline is at your pace or w/e, you'll be fired quicker than they can call donald trump.
