Just showing off what was featured in Popular Science's How2.0 column. I softmodded my Xbox with Krazie's Ndure and XBMC. I then skinned it with MC360, and it is amazing what resulted.
Screenshot taken within XBMC.
XBMC with MC360 vs. Xbox 360 with Halo theme.
My Xbox can now play music, DVD's, videos and games!

Ummmm...couldn't it do that already? Anyways, as much as I hate the Xbox, that is a pretty sweet little mod. By the way, are we going to see any more soldering videos? Those things were cool!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Modded Xboxs. I have XBMC and i love that skin....where did you find it? Also, what bios are you running? I'm on EvoX
Kickass! Now I want to do this; it seems like the perfect solution to my media center PC thing. Problem is, I don't have an xbox, and I don't want to plunk down $100 for one...
About how many Xbox-es will the softmod work on? I thought some later ones had firmware updates that blocked that. And how did you get the Xbox Linux working? Did you use MechAssault?

Well I can now play Shoutcast streams, iTunes shares. It has an RSS feed from Xbox-Scene, and it can play Xlink Kai without the GUI on the computer. The Xbox can't play videos direct from the HDD, but now I can, and games can be homebrews. I don't need the remote to play DVD's now since XBMC has a built in player.

You just need a non-platnium edition Mech Assault, and an Action Replay. Krazie's Ndure works on all Xbox's with at least 5960 dashboard. It should work on all hardware infact.
If you want a bigger harddrive, my suggestion is to flash the TSOP, that carries a risk though (you can pull out "insurance" with a modchip, my suggestion would be a DuoX 2 GS since they are only $12.99 on Divineo).

Yeah it's easy. You basically CAN NOT mess up with Krazie's Ndure, it's SOLID!
They fixed the bug that let you install the linux in later versions of the game, including the platinum version. The only way to make be sure you have the correct version is the tiny serial numbers on the inner ring of the disk. I got mine for $.01 from ebay (plus $4.99 shipping) which isn't bad, it's even a pretty fun game, I'm glad I didn't have to buy "Barbie Horse Adventures" or some other crap game to get this done.
