Could it be done by rewiring and adding a usb port to a GBA flash card and a pin converter?

No the gba flash cart simply will not work with the nes. And if you want a lot of games why not just get a super joy?

No,The Idea is that im mass producing this portable, and i need it to be able to...

A)Read and save the memory of the cartrigde it self.
B)Download your own roms through a Usb port or memory card.

Who would sell a device pre-flashed with ROMs? He could just include a simple homebrew game.

I looked into it, because I have friends who would be very interested in buying a NP (As I'm going to call it) That will let them put their own roms onto their system. So if you are going to produce these and sell them on a mass (for you :P) scale then including this is a huge plus. Though if you really want to pump up the deal you could take the chip out of the NES cart case and have a custom one made that is shorter and has its own label. Just a suggestion.

Actually, this could be done with a PIC micro processor. I have looked at doing it, but I was only going to make one and it would be too expensive for me to do all that work. Especially since the PIC is a surface mount component- yukkk, I hate soldering those things. There is a guy who has been working on this and I think he lives in poland, and he called his device the Funky Flash Cart. Look it up on google and have a gander. He is in university now, so he probably won't be working in it for a while, and his email doesn't really work last time I checked, but its cool to see that people actually build these things. If I had money and the right equipment I would build one myself. Right now I am doing ordinary single-rom development carts, and I have built mappers 0,1,2,3 and am looking at building a mapper 4. Check out this site for some neat info: http://www.romlab.prv.pl/

keep in mind the site is polish + broken english, so you might need to re-read some things to understand it.
