Defending Portablising

Bill Gates himself thinks that every home will have a 360 (of course) but also a Wii. That's a huge compliment to tell a competitor that their product rocks. And the man obviously knows a little something about business...
But I am proaying to God that this will be the downfall of the Playstation. the first one was great, I loved it. The second one was almost identical save for some better graphics and a new box, and the new one is even more so. Playstation not only designed a crap controller, but stuck with it for two rounds of their consoles. M$ stuck with the old one, too, but at least theirs is comfortable instead of awkward. (Gamecube had the best and most form-fitting controllers, in my opinion)

Guys the topic of this thread is "defending portablizing", not "zomg fanboyz untie and bash sonee!!". However, every thread turns into that if a Sony product is mentioned. That's pathetic.

I think portablizing is kind of like restoring and customizing an old car. Sure you could go out and buy a new car with your money, but it's not something YOU made yourself.

I personally don't think our own portables should be compared to the DS or the PSP. I think both those systems are pretty cool and neat feats of technology, but it's not something that I built and enjoy because it's something that I made. I look at portabilizing as a hobby, not as some direct competition with the consumer market. Taking a look at the L64 or any other such sexiness and saying that it's stupid because the PSP is way better is a stupid fallacious argument. It doesn't follow - unless we're selling our portables en masse (such as Ben), you really can't compare portabilized systems to current next gen consumer electronics. You don't look at a model train set that somebody put together and say that it's stupid because a real train is way better. That's retarded.

Ya, these are made by people (mostly teenagers) for a few hundred bucks. Sony and Nintendo spent millions making PSP and DS. Its like comparing a computer made out over dumpster parts to a supercomputer. It should be the opposite, like "man, PSP and DS cost so much to develop, those benheckers only spent a few hundred dollars and they have the good ol' classics that you can buy for $5 a bag.joedog86 wrote:I personally don't think our own portables should be compared to the DS or the PSP. I look at it differently. Portables we make are a revolution. It is like taking consoles you would rather be playing than the other marketed portables. Except, on the go. Remember, the stuff inside of these portables are also the results of millions of dollars of production.

You just cannot stop making up lies can you? they are not believeable. If you had done all the things you claim to have done, you would be beaten to death by people and be in big trouble with the law by now.ShockSlayer wrote:No offence man, your cool, but I cant help laughing!vskid wrote:I was thinking the same thing.Metroid fan wrote:*bursts out in laughter* It's spelled piece!Wow sorry bout that it's just hilarious!

One day right before school was out for summer, I showed someone a picture of the l64. They said: "Thats lame! PSP is the best thing since food! PSP is waaaay better."
I respect the PSP if its used by someone cool, like vb_master. But if its used by someone like this dork, then they deserve pain. As well as being dumb, this guy is also very ugly. He disrespected marshallh's work of genius, and therefore he was dealt with.
I closed his locker on his psp on purpose, it was still alive, so I ripped off the place where you put those thingys in. That'll teach him.
Also you don't physically smash someones somthing because they verbally offend you. You have no grasp of moral ethics. You either are lieing about everything or oneday oging to be beaten to death.

He's got a point. I don't care about the consequences. I'm smart and powerful. And I know how to rock!Klefmung wrote:I beat someone's CD player with a bat... <_< People like shockslayer and me do craaaazy things.
You just dont know when to shut up do you? I bet if I said "I breathe air" you would say, "LIEAR!!! the OMG!!! Leave me the hell alone. Please. I didn't do anything to you.
Yes I have been beaten, but I have quite a few friends who helped me out.
And of course I've gotten in trouble. Maybe with teachers, but I lie myself to saftey. "He left his locker open, and I closed it cause his stuff could fall out. I didn't mean to break it. Sucker"
I'm sure atleast one other person has done drastic things to protect the great portables. My brother twisted someones arm cuz someone said that dkap's xbox portable was fake.
Stfu and stop bashing my snesp, flaming, and annoying me.

Guys if anyone said something negitive about portablizing, like "Why don't you just use an emulator, it's cheaper" or "You can emulate an NES on the PSP, so what you have is just stupid." I'd likely say, "Ok I could, but emuation usually sucks and you don't get the feel of the game like I do."
But remember you can't expect much out of casual gameres. Hands down anyone that gets involved with the hardware of video games (as I see it) is a Hardcore gamer. You don't see people that play PC games stick with their basic hardware, they'll go out and get next upgrade to their video card, or add more ram, and so on. They're invovled with the game more then just playing it, they experiance it, and thats what we do when we mod the sytem.

I am a geek.
I need a whole new computer.Klefmung wrote:Speaking of which, I really, really need a new video card. <_<
As for why portablize, I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer, I just wanted to because it would be fun and I could play my favorite system (N64) on the go. I don't really play games that much, maybe an hour a day, and thats because I play almost all day one day and hardly play for weeks.
