Hey, My sister is look for a Program or something that can send 1 file from her computer downstairs to the one upstairs to burn. (Disks are not an option as we dont have any, and floppy's are too small and the comp upstairs wont read them)

I think she could use wireless LAN, but we have no clue on setting that up.
The file, is a movie that she wants to burn.

So does anyone know of any program that can transfer a file from one computer to the other? (Or maybe a website even)

The only reasonbly fast option would be a LAN if you have one setup.

well...........you could redownload it, or upload it and then download it assuming they both have internet access

She doesnt want to redownload it, and she just wants it done as fast as she could with as little as setup as possible.

If you have a home network set up, then all you have to do is share the cd burner you want to use and Nero, etc. should just see it.

Do you have Wifi or a wired lan. If not. Redownload it. Or get a crossover cable and set up a little adhoc network.

If you have wifi set up, set up Windfows file sharing between the two. (the Help program on the PC guides you through the setup process.)

Or you could get a USB drive. You can get a 512 MB drive foir $15 after rebates. Or you could get a USB Hard Drive enclosure and throw any ol' IDE HD into it. (I have one, it cost $30 at CompUSA. It's had a 4 gig, a 13 gig, and now an 80 gig HD.)

This is what I use, its called hamachi

you can set up a virtual lan. right click on your hard drive icon in my computer and enable file sharing, once you both sign on to a hamachi server you create (which is also easy, you just click create server). Once both computers are signed on you can see then on the hamachi window. If you right click on one you can click "Browse Files" Usually you can only see the shared documents, so paste it in there. If you enabled full hard drive sharing you can browse everything. Its not as fast as a real LAN but it works.

This program is also nice to play multiplayer games over the internet with one CD key. (On most games anyways)

Windows has bult in file sharing softwhere. You don't nee dto install some dodgy crap to set up a network.

I just use MSN File Transfer between my PC and laptop, usually get about 300kb a second.

Thumb drives are the best thing ever, I love mine.

/too bad the military still uses floppies
