Integrated graphics problem

Post by HomicidalBarber »

Ok so heres the deal. Reformatting my girlfriends hard drive (no thats not a sexual joke you dirty minded kids you) and she has on board graphics but she also has a Geforce 5200 in the PCI slot which she had apparently been running off before. So I got windows running and installed the integrated graphics drivers to begin with while we set up the rest. Then, I tried to switch to the other card by disabling the integrated one and installing the drivers to the newer one. So I restarted and no matter what I try and I cant get a video signal from the 5200. Can it take advantage of the card and still run out of the integrated graphics port? I dont get it. Thanks for any and all help

Make sure that memory is no longer allocated to the motherboard

I think you might be screwed if (1) the internal graphics chip is not disabled when the system sees a PCI/AGP card installed, or (2) you can't manually disable it in the BIOS settings.

I don't know if the computer you're working on is a Dell, but the Dell's my school has have integrated graphics and their disabled when a vidoe card is installed. So sorry to say I don't know much more.

Good luck.

Harshboy, have you check apple.com for the driver? or better yet you can always do a google search. Hope you find it.

Wipe your intigrated gfx drivers THEN install your new ones. Always do that.
I'm the man, if you don't think so, you're wrong.

I just found out that Apple use the Intel Integrated Graphics (6.14.10.4512) drivers. Where can i download these at? The Boot Camp drivers disk will not work in Parallels due to the Drivers not knowing it is actually on a mac due to the virtualization. Please, does anyone know where i can get these drivers standalone? Or else, my Windows XP virtualization is pretty useless.

and you didn't come across driverguide.com? I highly doubt you were searching on google for five hours if you didn't come accross there. Or you were just searching like an idiot.

Why do most of your posts bash others lately?

HomicidalBarber, did you disable the integrated graphics from Windows or from the BIOS Setup?

Sorry about the unfortunate typo.

B, thanks bic and Im going to assume the "Homocidalbarber" was mistake and not a gay joke.

Disabled it from the device manager under "my computer" properties. I will mess around with the BIOS see what can be done.
