PS2- Not Slimline- Info Thread

I've seen a lot of older threads that have people asking ridiculous things like battery consumption, and what pins are + and -.

OK, I'm going to clear-up a couple of questions that I've got the answer to, but on my PS2M that I've had to figure out myself.

1. The pos. and neg. pins on the PS2's are like so...

2. There are many uses for the 8v and 5v regulators...

3. On the version 1-6 consoles[I think 1-6 mine's a V5], there is an RGB fix that you can EASILY do.

Provided you either have eagle-eyes, or a magnifiying glass and a real steady hand- you can solder pin 28 of the A3525BR IC [in the upper left hand corner of the console, near the A/V pins] to the GND RIGHT next to it!!! Other consoles aren't so lucky.

There are a total of 1- 8v regs and 2- 5v regs. I'm going to use the 8v regulator to power my fans, this keeps them quiet while circulating plenty of air. The 5v regs are used to send the signal to your viewing device to turn on[ tv or lcd] and also used to power the USB and DVD laser/ motor.

Funny that the only reason for an 8v reg is even there, is to power the fan that comes w/ the console [cause its rated at 7.5v@.09A]. Hope this is a helpful thread, considering all of the other old ones that have the same questions.

Oh, anybody else have some tips/ suggestions that they could point out, that would be great.

I gotta get this clarified...so you would input say the positive wire in both holes? For I see two holes for you say positive input.

this is kindof unrelated, but where does the ps2 power switch/eject button plug into the ps2

I suppose your talkin about the Slim ps2. If not, then just look at modchip sites, they have some articles that are useful.

Hey, east, could you post a pic/diagram thingy like what you did with the power pins on the fat PS2, only this time show the video and audio leads? That would be a world of help!
