Largest capacity memory card?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Largest capacity memory card?

Post by Kyosho »

I'm sorry for posting such a stupid topic, but I searched the forum and on google and wasn't able to turn up proper results.

Two questions:

What's the largest capacity first-party (Sony brand) memory card you can get for the PSOne?

What's the largest capacity memory card you can get for the PSOne, in general (3rd party, etc)? Also, what brand would it be, and do you know if it is reliable?

I'm redoing my PSOneP and I want as much space as possible on the internal memory card it will have.

I'm not that knowledgable about playstation stuff, but the only first party cards I've seen are the 8 mb.

PS2...that's what I know of now, I think some 16-32 MB. were released out of NA, but not too sure, the only 1st Party seen is 8mb. Companies like Pelican and Intec made some as large (probably max) as 64 Mb. which was featured on SSS's (SegaSon-seriously...) PSTWOp(may it RIP in the hands of the thief)

I'm confused, are you talking about PSOne memory cards, or PS2? I'm going to assume PS2 memory cards don't work on the PSOne. I just need one for a PSOne. I don't even own a PS2.

And I believe PSOne memory cards were measured in "blocks", not in MB. But I could be mistaken.

Official Brand: 15 blocks
Third Party: 120 blocks. I dunno who makes it though, but you can find out some information about it here (near the bottom of the page).

Sure, I'll grab it from my brothers room, I cant run it as our PS, DIED.
Every sony thing that goes in his room dies. (The Mem card isnt sony :D)

Sony ps2 went in his room last = Dead
Sony ps1 went in his room last = Dead
Sony mp3 player = Dead
Sony diskman = Dead
Sony Sterio = Dieng

Yea, I'll go and take pics now.

Our ps1 wont even turn on, ive tried different adaptors, No light coming on, and now spinning disk.

I've heard that the unofficial cards work by "compressing" the save data (so my friend says). And that this often messes up saves. My friend had an unifficial and certain game saves would not work at all on it. Just something to consider.

the point is that only 15 blacks are accessed at a time and the memory card doesn't recognizes bytes, so it is 15 blocks or bust at one time, so lots of cycling is involved

I just bought some used ones from a Goodwill store for like $5

Plus I have a Performance Dual and a first party memory card

Alright, so a few high capacity cards have been mentioned, but can be unreliable due to cycling? So, basically, the best I can do that will always be reliable would be a 15 block Sony-brand memory card? Assuming all that has been said is correct. That's a bit disappointing. Oh well.

In that case I might put in two, with a switch between the two. No, wait, both on one slot would prevent me from being able to transfer between cards, should I want to (well, without some annoying swaping with a third, non-integrated card). Perhaps I will wire in an internal memory card for both slots, in parallel with the actual slots themselves, with switched to change from internal to external. In theory, four memory cards plugged in at once, but only two would be usable at a time. Two internal, two external. But I can't see myself ever needing that much. Ahhhhh. Maybe I'll just go with the one.
