PSone video question

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSone video question

Post by nymets4599 »

Hey,

I just finished up wiring my first ever portable and everything is working good. I followed the Nes by hand from Ben’s book. For the screen I used a Zenith X-box screen. The only thing that seems odd is that the left side of the screen only shows whatever color is in the background. (I tested it with SMB 1 so it was blue) This only occurs for about an eighth of an inch. Is this normal for the screen, or is there something that needs adjusting such as the ribbon cable? If anyone has experienced this before I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

p.s. I will post a picture tomorrow when I get my camera back.

That is normal because the NES uses an odd resolution. The reason you don't see that on TVs is because of the overscan (basically, cutting off the edges).

This occurs also on certain emulators. It's no big deal, just design the case to overlap the 8th of an inch.

Thanks guys. These forums have been really useful for me picking up how to do this.
