Haven't any of you guys tried to get your gfs interested in hacking, because in my town, nobody knows what hacking or modding is. Not even the guys. maybe if more people knew what this art is all about, the number of girls (and people in general) on the board would increase.
I just think a number of 2000 members is pretty small for something so interesting.
It reminds me of that one Ctrl+Alt+Del comic strip where Ethan grabs Lilah's boob to see if she's real after she says that she likes video games! Anyone have that one?

Sure we'd all like more people to be interested in video game hacking. The key problem is finding those that are interested in getting their hands a little dirty so they can do different things on their console(s) or having the system go with them. I've even mentioned this to a girl who was in class with me, however I think she was only interested in playing the games.
It's hard finding people who enjoy learning how something works, even if it's very limited. Oh and welcome to the community.

its actually sort of ironic, you'd think that those who are obsessed with the games would be the first ones to try and take them with them wherever they go, but (at least around here) the people who play games like crazy, aren't really very interested in modding or hacking, or portabolizing, in fact, i only really know of maybe 3 people other than myself around here.
it's very refreshing to see (or read about) a girl who is not only interested in videogames, but hacking and modding too, it makes me smile see? like that.
hah i doubt a lot of girls will start ripping nintendos apart anytime soon.
Anyway, back to the dual portable. I have 3 questions
1. If i use the diagram that skyone posted, and used an on/off/on switch, can i also power two Leds of different colors on each system to use as indicator lights? maybe blue for when the the n64 is on and green for the snes? I plan to be using a 9v, so will that be enough power supply for 2 consoles, a psone screen, and some leds?
2. I want my portable to look cool so i have to have cool buttons. I'll be using the controller boards just changing the buttons. So, for the n64 can use the nes max spinning dpad and use a pelican ps2 mini afterglow analog stick (they're smaller and more comfortable)? I already read the post about the analog controller mod for the n64 so i know to do it, but i just wanted to know if i should expect any problems?
3. This might sound dumb but i'm not going to have to remove the jacks on the snes and the n64 to plug in to wall power right? Because i'll be using these systems at home a lot too
In responce to questions 1, it sounds like you're going a very complicated way about it. If you're powering two systems, connected to one screen and you just want to select use a simple switch and lable which console is on if its to the left (or up) or the right (down).
Also for the deal about powering the system. Go with a really high capcity 7.5v battery. The SNES, PSone screen and the 12v line on the N64 all will run on that. All you have to do to get the 3.3v for the N64 is connect the battery to a voltage regulator.
I also want to assure you that the voltage and power draw that LEDs require is very low. Generally you only need about 1.5-3 volts going to the LED and it will draw something like 50mA an hour.

the simpleset way i can think of is to just use two switches, a normal spst and an 'on-on' spdt. allow me to create a diagram :
if you want to use only one switch, then a MOSFET would be the best way to control the screen.
for your buttons, you could use tact switches or some other form of switch (didnt someone (joevennix?) find a kind of button that was the same as normal buttons?) and just connect them to the actual controller PCB with wires. you could then rearrage their layout.
for wall power, you will just need any 7.5v, 2A (ish) adapter.
