Famicom to NES converter idea

Hey all, I was just messing with some pinout info the other day for the NES and famicom cartridge connecors and I noticed that the NES does not let you input audio through the cart connector, but the famicom does. I was bummed because I wanted to play some famicom games with my converter but the exended audio on some of my games was not going to work. (actually, the games belonged to a friend and I was borrowing them...) So I came up with an idea. Some of those pins in the middle of the cartridge connector go right to the expansion port on the NES, and there is also an audio input on the expansion port. I was thinking of wiring up my famicom adaptor so that the audio in goes into the expansion port, and then I would make a dongle or something that would take the audio off the expansion port pin and put it into the audio input. It would only work on real NES hardware but it would be cool too. What do you guys think?

It's been done before, but yes, it is a good idea. The only problem is finding a pcb edge for the expansion port.

Isn't the expansion port a male pcb edge, just made of plastic? I should check the pitch of the pins, but I think that a modded floppy connector could work here too. And, BTW, where have you seen this dongle idea? I would like to see how others have executed it.

I modified a Famicom NES adapter that has an RCA cable which takes the output of the NES go in, through the famicom cart and back out to my stereo.

Yeah, it looks a little weird having two cables going into the NES and back out, but then you don't haveto make any MODs to your NES,

Is this what you were talking about?
