So i was deasmbelling my battey so it would fit nicer, took out the protection circut and then tried to seperate the batterys, next thing i know the thing is on fire!!!! scary!r

Any idea what it caught fire? I'm thinking that something got shorted out, but maybe you punctured one of the cells...
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

Well in fact the battery was designed very well, the wires linking all the cells were like fuse wires and the fire was one of those burning through. So everythings alright!!!

its all nice and working now!! YEAY!!! now it will fit nicely into my case that doesn't excist yet

lol silly, it wouldnt have caught fire, it would have blown up. literally. ask gamlver :lol: his gcp blew up, wasnt pretty

Was it a lithium based battery?

If so, you most likely ripped open one of the cells. Lithium reacts violently with oxygen. My neighbor disposes of old dead RC airplane batteries that way. (I don't ask why.)

damm i think i melted a capaciter on the protection circuit, wasn't there a make your own protection circuit going around somewhere.

i made a protection circuit. it seems to work but i havent tested it extensively. you could probably buy one of batteryspace.com for cheaper than putting in a digikey order to get the parts. its all smd...

right the circuit is now exploded while trying to fix it the ics started smoking! so bye bye protection circuit. Oh well my screen is working nicely with its led mod!!!
