My PSP is broken :(
It's less than a year old and probably has less than 40 hours of play time on it, now I'm getting "unable to play disc" errors. Is this a common error with an easy fix? The drive sounds wrong, very clicketty.
I've sent Sony an email, hopefully they'll help me out.
I guess I could always downgrade it and play my games off of memory sticks.
Maybe I'll be getting a DS sooner rather than later.

It's a version 2.0 which could be downgraded if needed to play stuff off the memory stick, which sucks because I do have 8 or so games on disk for it. I've probably sunk about $10 per hour of game time into this thing, so I'm not very happy with it.
Sony hasn't written me back yet, but I did try cleaning everything and pulling the battery, neither of which helped.
I've always thought the PSP felt fragile, so I've always kept it in the soft case and been very careful with it, and it still broke.

I had a version 2.0 when I decided that flash is cooler than homebrew and I upgraded to 2.70. Waiting for a 2.70 exploit, QJ.net has found some interesting stuff.psychotic_mechanic wrote:It's a version 2.0 which could be downgraded if needed to play stuff off the memory stick, which sucks because I do have 8 or so games on disk for it. Did you buy it from a well known place such as Blockbuster,Circuit City or Best Buy? I have friends that have had disk read errors, and they all bought thier psps' from those retailers.psychotic_mechanic wrote:It's less than a year old and probably has less than 40 hours of play time on it, now I'm getting "unable to play disc" errors. I bought it from the Navy Exchange her on base, so I may try to take it and the box back to them, but they have pretty strict returns guidelines compared to wally-world and others.
A sony rep (or auto reply) wrote back to me with a 1-800 number to call. I'll call them during daylight hours in the states.
