I thought about chilling in a grocery store or something like that, but the truth is, zombies eventuaslly break through glass and climb over the crap barricading it. A good idea would be to live in an apartment building where the 1st floor stairs and elevator are destroyed and filled with concrete or something, and just have a ladder going to the 2nd floor that you pull up when not in use.
Hey, sup?

easy, day one runn into town buy plywood and other lumber, go to gunstore buy .22/.357/.45-70 ammo possibly some larger calibur rifles (preference .30-06 12ga shotguns etc) buy sheet metal or find some also razor wire initiate reinforcement of the house (boarding windows etc) armor the truck windows and stuff and use it to haul said lumber/materials warn neighbors/friends of the pending attack, also buy much food and start storing water. and then bunker down

to correct a few tings, whoever siad paintball/pellet guns etc those will do NO GOOD AT ALL, no 90% of all gun stores do NOT carry any sort of military grade hardware seeing as how onership of a class 3 weapon (machinegun rpgs etc) is illeagal in lik 30 states or more.

after said uprising has begun and the zombies fought off i would go around checking other places for survivors and possibly start gathering stuff like single wide trailers and start construction of "the compound" to house survivors and stuff like that, my house would be our base of operations and the compound would be built around it, we have access to earthmoving equipment so building a peremeter moat or mound wall would not be too hard, top it with chain link and razor wire and have 4 guard towers, armed with semi auto .30-06 with a scope. i could go longer but you get the idea lol

Well my cousin has a .50 caliber (I think he has a lisence). If I couldn't get a .50 cal, I'd get some other good auto or semi-auto gun for truck gun turret.

EDIT: I wish something like this would happen.

.50 caliber (smith and wesson 500 revolver, BMG 50 sniper rifle etc) is obtainable but a machine gun, no without a class 3 permit (costs hundreds and hundreds to obtain plus a long extensive background check from the feds) plus most gun shops dont just have brownings or whatever layin around lol

I live by an airforce base but it doesn't matter havn't you guys read how to survive a zombie outbreak they're clumbsy and can't climb or walk on smooth surfaces and if you kill the brain the zombies dead. So now go up into moutains and bring a nice 30 cal and a shotgun then build smooth steep ramps to where I am and blow their brains out because zombies can live for five years without food until they rot. Forgot the lawn chair food and water annnnddd ammo! Ok now their are dead zombies all around and I live!

Personally I'd go for a sawed-off double barrel side-by-side 12 gauge shotgun. Make it more of a challenge. Probably with double-ought buckshot. Slugs give you black and blue shoulders.

Sidearm: Colt M1911 (.45 ACP ammo, which stands for Automatic Colt Pistol, you know) Hollowpoints. The "ammo that saved World War II"

I made that up, the cum-dome thing as a joke, sorry if it offended anyone :x :P .

Well, I did some research, if you replace some letters, you get comedome, and that is something (No, not a protective shield that eventually loses energy, ala Halo...Cortana, meh) that picks out cotton.

ive got a good slection of guns at my desposal (yes i own all of the following guns, i can provide photographic evidence too! lol)

marlin golden 39a .22 leveraction with a 4x32 scope (i can group shots within less than 6" at 30 yards standing position with this, great gunholds 18 rounds)

ruger mk1 .22 pistol, i can consistantly hit a target at 25 yards with this 9+1rounds

.357magnum ruger service 6 revolver (1/3" hole going in a few inches around on exit, this mofo is a beast, full metal jacket rounds)

.22 magnum bolt action rifle with a more powerful scope than the marlin (even more accurate than the marlin and more powerful and greater range)

savage model 87a .22 semi auto rifle, old but reliable and holds 18 rounds

springfield m1889 "trapdoor" 45-70, never shot it myself but they are powerful and known to be accurate to 200 yards with a good marksman, also has a 18" bayonet for emergencies

replica remington new model army m1858 black powder .44 cal revolver, good for 6 shots before reload lots of power but dubious accuracy, if your good its accurate at about 15 yards more than that your pressing your luck

various replica civil war rifles that wont be of much use due to their age and condition (worn hammer springs etc)

plus it would be east yo buy or borrow guns frm neighbors and friends expeciall if your all holeing up in one place, and ammo is cheap for .22s and not bad for the rest (winchester super X or wildcats for the 22s and superX for the .357 too or black talons but i think those are not legal)

if zoombies poped out of no wares and my town was in trubble, how would I know? and would i be in any danger? well I would head off to the woods with some crop, no need risking my brian for a gun or any thing till I soberd up by then all the zombies would have killed eachother and every one else. I would be free to go to the city and take what ever i needed. and I would sort of sneek in to the police evidance lockers you know clear some things up get straped all to hell and (i mean straped, you dont want to ever drop the gun way out of reach or run out of bullets) riot gear body armor (almost to the point where i cant go any where on foot) then head to the nearist car dealership, lose the police tub, pick up a skyline at the industral importers (they always have one extra, every rich guy has one around here) and just go compleatly ape crap on the city if there are still zombies left the'll die.

For me it would be a dream come true.
It goes as follows.
1.Find all supplies needed.
2.OH NOES the zombies are coming, drive to whatever junkyard you can find and hope that the owner is dead.
3.make a shelter/fort out of the material in the junkyard with the use of the magnetic crane.
4.set traps such as explosives,squishers,zombie ovens,propeller traps :D.
5.Fight the zombies off.
6.Have a dramatic love seen right next to 50 burning corpses.
7.Find help with any means of communication.
8.Go home and forget about the whole thing  .

zombies can live for five years without food until they rot
That statement contradicts known physical processes :P

During a zombie outbreak I would probably do a nice bit of looting- a couple dozen bottles of helium here, a nice RV there, and some generous quanitity of food stuffs. I would then proceed to create my super ultimate flying RV fortress, and allow myself to drift away in the wind currents. Alternatively I could live in an old train tanker car for a while.

If this was a zombie invasion, as in it started outside of the town and we had a 3 day head start, I'd create a fort from the community subdivision. Luckily many communities are already walled in, in some fashion or another, so it would only be a matter of fortifying the position. We'd gather all the food available and move it within the walls, along with other provisions such as batteries, generators, fresh water, etc. Guns don't have much of a point, but sharpened sticks do! :P Anyway, the gaurds on wall patrol would merely make sure that zombies don't pile up to high. Within the community I would focus on building the wind turbines we'd need for a long term source of electricity, because we'd need to keep food fresh and etc. Others would probably be concerned with growing some simple fruit and vegetable crops as well.

@ triton, one of the burning corpses

I'd get food and water, grab my Browning Sweet Sixteen, 16guage shotgun, and all of the ammunition that I can get for it, my 7mm-08 and all of the ammo for that, my 30-06, and all of the ammo for that, my single shot 20 guage shotgun (for emergencys only) and plenty of ammo for it, I would also have to get my 38 special, and plenty of ammo for that. yes I actually do own all of the above guns, two of which (my 20 guage, and my 7mm-08 ) are im my closet, the others are under various beds in my house.
