The simple truth, Triton, is that sony does produce some good products or they would not still be in business. You are basing your opinions on a few bad experiences and for the record betamax existed before vhs and was popular in its time. Sony is still around so they must be doing something right and I have a first gen ps2 that never gives me any problems. I use it to watch many many dvd's and play mucho games and not a problem yet. The reason any electronics break down is improper handling Ill bet the ps2's that broke down on you were standing on edge their entire lives thats what burns up the dvd drive.

and if they are anywhere near dust, they suck it in, which means dust build up on the laser. You can't tell me that you have a completely dust free environment for your ps2

nope my neighbors ps2 just crapped out, no reason at all, never stood it on edge same thing with our tv one day fine next kaput, yes sony does sometimes have good products such as walkmans (the ex9 is awesome) but the majority of sony products in my opinion are porly made and just feel cheap, and a lot of it is not actually manufactured by sony just badged by them
