Ok, this is enough. Do you guys know what your saying...You're telling someone to ditch his computer, which he or his parents probably paid about 200-300$ for, and your telling him to throw it away and get a mac. Ok I don't know about you but a mac costs much more then a pc, several thousand dollars if I'm not mistaken. So why the hell would he do that when he can just use the pc that he already has. Does anyone know why apple computers are so highly priced? Well, I do because thier computers only get 5% of the marketshare. Compared to the pc which has 95% of the marketshare.
Also I don't think linux is even in the picture. The only person that runs linux in my house is my dad. I really don't know anyone else that is on this forum which I assume, that the average age of people are about 10 to 40+ (counting ben of course) that would even be able to operate linux without someone else in thier household knowing linux.
Alright, to fix your little problem like I said before Dr.KillGood, Get spybot
search and destroy from download.com, and then get AVG antivirus.
It is completely free and is not dangerous to your pc's health at all.

Thats sort of the problem I have, I get this thing on my taskbar saying "Blah Blah CLick here to uninstall it"and Yea It brings me to a website, that then acts it self as my homepage, gives me more spyware, then wants me to buy it.
and everytime I turn on the computer, "SPYFALCON" (A spyware remover) Comes up and starts scanning, and then it finishes scanning, and then tells me I have to pay money to delete the files.
I e-mail spyfalcon and they said 'Were sorry but we cant help you with that, find another way", that made me mad, as It is THEIR program, and they wont help me uninstall it.
That popup thing your getting, Does the icon look like an Earth, then changes to a Red circle with an X?
If so, Ya got Smitfraud.
Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c
Go here to uninstall the smit rem
http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/
read the instructions, and ONLY use the program in Safe Mode, and when your internet is OFF.
I have smitfraud B, and theres NO CURE for it, But heres what i do...
Right click task bar, Go to properties, click customize, and then look for that Program, click "Always Hide"
There.

1. MAcs do not cost thousands more, but there is about a 200 dollar premium or so.
2. I think the figure is more like 10% for macs
3. Lots of people on this forum use linux, bicostp, myself, spongie and other people.

The reason Macs don't have as many virus problems is because nobody cares about mas enough to bother making viruses for them. Then have to make their viruses where it'll hurt a lot, and that would be PCs, because almost every major company and buisness department in the USA uses PCs. No matter how superior a Mac may be, a corporation can't just make a switch to Mac because they would be rendered incompatable with 90% of the outside world. Macs are mostly loved because it seems to be another way to stick it to the man (down with the microsoft!). It's almost like just a cult fanbase.
But that's off the point. No flamewars, please.

Well, reformatting the HD fixes EVERY problem you could possibly have on your HD. Now, if you've been DOS attacked, I can't help you
. By the way, Macs are great and all, but they obviously are not incompatible 100% with PCs now with the amazing boot camp software.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

not to stray too far from the original topic or start a flamewar...NES_fanatic wrote:The reason Macs don't have as many virus problems is because nobody cares about macs enough to bother making viruses for them.
I agree that the reason that macs have less viruses is because not as many people care about killing macs
however, even if the same number of viruses were made for macs, they wouldn't get hit as hard because the average user isn't as high up on the administrator scale and is prompted for a password to install anything too deep in the system, just like linux (which I also use, btw)
and... back to the topic at hand:
Your best bet is to install <a href=http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/>spybot search and destroy </a> and <a href=http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/>lavasoft ad-aware</a>
if those don't work, back up and reformat
ps. that'll be $25

I found "Hitman Pro" through digg a couple months back which combines 5 or 6 different spyware/adware killing programs. It found 300+ on my laptop, no wonder it was running so slow. I should have known better to trust all those perverts and pirates.
