I have a question about Norton antivirus, does it make my computer slower? Before I installed norton, the amount of memory being used in processes in the task manager was about the same as in performance. But now theres about 100 mb of ram not accounted for in the processes. Should I just get rid of norton and manually scan downloads with another program?

Maybe some please and thank you too, I mean we are all friendly I think. What I use to uninstall programs is Crap Cleaner. It has a utility that allows you to uninstall stuff and choose what you want to run on start up fairly easily.

Anything's better than Windows. I just use it 'cause I have to.

What, Windows? Get Slax and just save all information to something like a thumb drive or if your hard drive is FAT32 save it there.

Also don't just get Spybot, get Adaware too. Those two together will get just about any spyware or adware you have or will have.

The best version of windows=3.0. Doesn't get better than that when it comes to Microsoft anything.

I'm going to get bashed over the head for saying this, but the best version is Windows 95. *runs away*
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

No, definitely 98se.
For linux, I personally like slax, cause its easy to install. Ubuntu is pretty good too.

IMO, the best Windows was either 98 or 2000. Those 2 seemed the most stable for me.

Yeah, 2000 is also good. My laptop has 98se on it and once I get m ubuntu free cd, I'm going to dual boot. My project compy has ME on it (ewww!) so I'll prolly upgrade that.
