what the heck happened----adapter almost caught on fire

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

what the heck happened----adapter almost caught on fire

Post by plasticorange »

Im hacking the Zenith 5" lcd for the digital photo frame project. My screen went dead. I've been trying to get it to work again, and thought that maybe my connections were bad so i was redoing them.

Then i noticed that my yellow power pin was getting really hot, then the wall adapter started smoking and making these crackling sounds.

I unplugged it and disaster was averted----

but what could have been going wrong?

Im pretty sure, maybe one of your connections is like jammed, causing all the power to stay inside the adaptor and not regulate, causing it to get hot.

Its happened to me before, I just through the thing out.. :S.
