backwards regulator :/

i just wired my 7805 regulator backwards and powered on the mini snes... so the input for the regulator was in the output +5v to snes, and the output 5v of the reg was put in the input voltage. now the snes won't turn on... does that mean it got fried? when i use a multimeter, current stops at the fuse, so hopefully i can just put some wire around that to bypass it. I just wanted some second opinions before i messed around more. Do you guys think it'd be ok to bypass the fuse? (btw i assume that F1 on the snes board means fuse)

I went around the fuse and got a picture, only it's all weird. It's like you can see and play the games, but there are stripes of weirdness all over it. And as you play a game, the graphics go a little crazy. Any ideas how to fix this?

I can see you learning your lesson the hard way like I did (with 100$ wirth of SNES's).

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALLLLWWWAAAAYYYYSSS know what you're doing before you do it. Check for shorts, backwards wires and componenets (especially in regards to power) and don't touch anything to anything else when something's on.

Why did you take your regulator off?

i took it off because i was going to have it elsewhere with a heatsink attached. then i decided to test it and i had the wires backwards... yeah i'll make sure to quadruple triple million check everything next time. hopefully the graphics can be fixed, because the audio and everything else works seemingly fine. any ideas about the graphics? do you guys think it's fried and ruined?

I don't think a linear regulator would do anything with the wires mixed up. You might want to check somewhere, but if you put the input in the output in a regulator, then the output coming out the input wire wouldn't do anything. Your video problem is caused by something else. What's your current setup. Are you running the SNES to a TV or did you solder some wires to a screen?

i'm running it to the television. maybe that's where the problem lies?
