If you check the bidding history you can see that there's two fools. The first bid 5,000$ and the second bid 5,100$. I wonder if he actually got the money

Oh well I do not have the original case and their are minor scratches so I guess I don't really have a $5000 game oh well!

After a second look, I'd says there's a possible and logical explenation for this.

The winner, let's call him A, had set a maximum bid price so redicoulously high as to make sure he would get the game no matter what (most likely thinking the bidding would never reach this far!).

The loser, B had also set an insane maximum bid wanting to beat A's no matter what (never thinking A would have put such a high maximum bid).

Consequentially, the final bids generated were not which were expected (5,000 for B and 5,100 for A).

B's max bid was 5,000, while A's is unknown (obviously higher than 5,000).

If true, it's still pretty stupid on both parts.

I saw this at Digital Press too; the auction seller posted about what happened. Here's the story for those who don't go there:

Damaniel's scenario is correct. The winner was a newbie with (1) feedback that set a really high proxy bid. A second newbie that won one of my other auctions (FF7 disc 3 only GH - which he never paid) placed a high proxy bid of $5,000.

In short the winner contacted me afraid I would take her to court. She had been trying to find this game for her son. (could have just bought multiple "but it now" listings for cheaper) (?) :hmm:

Taking every angle of this into consideration. I played nice guy.
We agreed a bid of $85.02 + $7.50SH - it's not 5G's!!! - but still great for a GH version.

She paid, I shipped, end of story. ( i feel so dirty) LOL

Still hilarious though.

Why would you steal a game worth 80 bucks? Didn't you read the real story as posted earlier in this same thread? Those high bids were accidental, and did not reflect the actual value of the item.
