Sound problems with pin 2, 3, other issues with 10,9 + 6

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Sound problems with pin 2, 3, other issues with 10,9 + 6

Post by Robotron »

I get no sound on pin 2, 3, however, if i use 10 and 9, and connect the same signal to pin 6 (earphone select) i get sound.

please tell me, why is this happening

just to let you know, i cut the ribbon cable completely to sever the bottom part of the screen, i removed the power jack and it's little pcb and left the 2 wires on that separate ribbon cable in tact.

I've been using the ribbon cable wires to test this... was there something on the little PCB that did soething with the pin 6 that i should know about?

This happened to me too, and it's nothing to worry about. It depends on what video input you're using for some reason. If you use composite video, you'll get sound on 2 & 3; if you use RGB video, you'll get sound on 9 & 10. Could be the other way around, I don't remember.

I actually found out what it was. The headphone select has to be grounded in order to work. My psone screen thought i had headphones in, so there was no sound. Also, you won't get any audio in 2, 3 unless there is ALSO video on 1. I was just testing audio by itself.

NOw that that's solved.. on to the next problem.. Current..
