You should realize that you aren't going to add ten PC's together and have an uber gaming PC. Neither will you add 2 gaming computers together and get one 2x power gaming computer.
Generally the node takes a task, splits it up, and sends the peices to be processed by the rest of the cluster, than receives the finished peices and sticks them back together.
It's like having a dual-core PC, but with a super-slow interface between the cores. Get what I'm saying?

yea the only way to truely get what you want is to have an unlimited budget with a gigantic server basement that stretches for hundreds of yards...

If you wanted to try and get as much CPU power as you could get a dual CPU motherboard that supports dual-core CPUs, kind of like the last G5 Macintosh. With that much power you could do just about anything. new intel line of chips in july. 'conroe' is the desktop model. i think they are all multicore....
i think one (planned) one has as many as 32... XD

They better be backwards compatible with pentium D boards. As before they were 'conroe' they were meant to be the next pentium D and compatible with my bored so I have a cheaper pentium D. As of right now, very few games support dual core processors, let alone quad core processors. By support, I mean 'make use of'. I've never had problems with games not running on a dual core PC, but I ussually get standard single-core performace.
Of course, now I use a Sempron, so it doesn't really matter ~_~
