For all those getting/own a GBA Movie Player....

I hear the conversion software is kind of a female of the dog species. Anyone worked with it yet? I'm getting the SD version, seeing as CF is kind of outdated. Also, how many gigs is a movie like, say, Advent Children? I also found this site: www.*******.com . They offer downloads for movies/shows that are pre-converted. You can also talk about your purchase here, post reviews, where you got it, your thoughts, etc. And are you guys getting the standard SD/CF GBA Movie Player, or the fancy pants Play-Yan Micro? I really don't see much of a difference, except maybe the price tag.

PS- Mods, I have a feeling that the downloads on ******* may be kind of......illegal. If so, could you just edit out that sentence and keep the thread open, seeing as I know a lot of people are getting this and I think it'd be a good place to chat about it. Thanks!

I have a GBA MP CF. I reccomend the CF version because the SD doesn't boot NDS homebrews (I think...)

I would just get a SuperCard CF or SD anyways because it has SRAM but do whatever.

I was thinking about that, too. The only problem is I'd need a passme device, which I don't have. Does anyone know if you need a passme device to run ROMs on a DS Lite from the SD Movie Player? I've only heard of it not accepting SuperCard ROMs, or is it all ROMs?

You can't run HOMEBREW ROMS on DS Lite with the GBA MP.

You will require a PassMe 2 and a device with SRAM.

I just got the DS Lite to boot homebrew with a PassKey that I flashed with PassKey 2 code, and a SuperCard CF.

Buy a SuperCard SD and a PassKey 2, that has battery backed SRAM unlike the SuperCard CF.

why? The m3 does have a ds mode, but you could just run moonshell...

anyway, I've used both their first and third generation conversion software on my gba, it is a pain, but the 3rd gen is much faster. (supercard uses hacked 1st gen, m3 uses pure 3rd gen)

I get *almost* realtime conversion and files are named properly with 3rd gen. First gen player crops (even on the gba) and still has very large file sizes.

The M3 is not that great, it does not have good DS homebrew compatability.

I'd say just get a SuperCard SD, it's really good for DS homebrew and it comes with a movie converter on the CD.

Now I don't know what to get! SuperCard sounds cool, but I also don't have any DS Homebrews, so the advantage there is gone. I've also been offered a Play-Yan micro. Are they any good?

Play-Yan Micros are expensive.

It's all pretty much up to you and your price range.

For SuperCard - you can also play GBA Homebrew

yeah, I have both supercard and m3--the only reason I upgraded is because I'm on GBM, and m3 has better gba support all around. I haven't really gotten it loaded up to the standard that my supercard's at, but filling an SD properly takes quite a while on these since there's a bit of messing around with roms to be done on both cards. I really don't think this is the place for supercard/m3 wars.

you might want to consider the ez4 units too. Especially if you have a DSlite. The new ez4 micro sd will fit pretty much all the way inside that shallow gba port. (at the cost of having to go to micro sd) I still say you should be moonshelling since you're on DS, and forget crystal engine. Crystal engine is a dinosaur for people like me who have decided to stick with GBA.

I'd love a Moonshell or M3, but their price tags are even more than the Play-Yan micro! As far as my decision, I just bought a GBA Movie Player SD version off Ebay for $30 shipped. When I get it, I'll post a review here, then possibly make a video review with a higher resolution camera to show off it's quality on a DS Lite (MAN, I love my lite

) As far as getting a more powerful multimedia device, I'll probably upgrade sometime if the SD MP doesn't impress me, although I think it'll do just fine.

I also know that the SD MP can run SNES ROMs and down, but I was wondering; can you save games? It doesn't have battery-backed memory, but can it still save games?
