How to free up hard drive space

My laptop was getting a bit full (it's only 100 gigs) so I spent some time last week archiving stuff to DVD that I might need again and deleting things that I won't ever need again.

Hard drives generally contain two high-strength magnets. I'm not certain, but they appear to be used to control the arms holding the read/write heads. They're a blast to play with, too. Hard drives are built like fortresses. You can drop them from 3 story buildings, cook them, hit them with a baseball bat, run them over, and expose them to high radiation without erradicating the data stored on them...of course, the read/write mechanism likely won't work, or any of the control circuits, but still...

As a dumb windows user who "generally has no idea what he's talking about", I just scream and kick my computer to solve all my problems. And 50% of the time, it works every time.

Windows, albeit aged in GUI and functionality, is the industry norm nowadays. Whereas Macs once had powers in places windows couldn't compete, now (with the switch to intel) Macs are not so much at an advantage as they are at an end. The old, different-internally mac is turning into any old intel PC I want it to be

. I don't know why, but currently my power Mac g3 is what my monitor and keyboard are located on top of. And me speakers are on top of it's external hard disks (1 GB each!) and Tape Backup Drive. This mac, which hasn't worked for ages, is finally asleep. I don't think I could clean the hard disks with a vacuum. /drunken rant
