Yeah, this is the PS forum, but it's also 32-bit, right? If not, I'm sure someone will be kind enough to move it.
Has anyone made a 3doP before? If not, does anyone know of a site with reference meterial as to the layout of a 3do? Video would be easy, it has composite-out ports built right in, but everything else I'd need some sort of reference.

i dunno much but i have been googling it and the 3DO looks pretty simple other than its huge disc reader. but arnt there different revisions of the 3DO.

to wire a controller just use your multimeter to check for continuancy from the wires to the port and for power, does it use 120AC straight or does it take DC?

I think it take dc but I'm not completely sure

Yeah the 3DO hardware was made by a lot of different companies so theres a lot of different console variants; at least 4 that I can think of. I liked the Sanyo TRY version the best, but I don't think that was released stateside.

Panasonic made at least two, the FZ-1 and the FZ-10.

Panasonic FZ-1

Goldstar 3DO
Sanyo TRY

There might have also been another Goldstar system. I have a picture of it in my old Next Generation magazine from July 1995 at E3, but that might be an upgraded 64-bit standalone console that you could buy instead of getting the 32-bit 3DO system and the M2 Accelerator.

Heh they all look like VCR's too except the FZ-10

My main one is an FZ-1, I'm not portablizing it. I'd go with the FZ-10 as the easiest, since it's the smallest and top-loading. But, if it is as I suspect, the rare PCI card would be the easiest, since, if I am correct, it is the entire 3do console specs in a simple pci card. remove the pc connection and set up video and I'm done. But, it could be dependent on the PC, in which case it is the hardest. Oh, and the M2 was never released. It was purchased by matsubishi (I think, I know the company began with an 'M'...) and then never came out.

Here's a fuzzy picture of the other 3DO i was talking about. It's the one on the bottom next to the M2 that guy is holding. Check out the Circle-y VR thing at the top too; it was going to retail for *only* $22,000!

I wish I had a scanner instead of having to do it via digital cam.

That looks like a ps1 to me, sorta.
The one on the bottom-left looks like a ps2... but it's an m2
The one at the very top is an fz-1, my type.

The best part of 3do is the fact that it plays cdr backups 100% fine, no problems. I found this out just yesterday. Oh, and progress-wise, I'm delving into the design of a 3doP, but it probably won't get any farther until I can find a working console for cheap somewhere on ebay. By cheap, I'm talking less then what I payed for the one I have now with all the games I have now: $22. 16 of my games came with the console at a garage sale for 22, the rest were given to me by a neighbors kid, who thought they were PC games and just gave them to me. I still have yet to find out where he got them, but for the most pary they work, with the exception of Way of the warrior and Samuri Showdown.
