Instructions? for Newbie? whats best to start?

Hello
I am new to the scene..and would really like to tackle a portable nes. However I am very new and would like to find a site that has steps, tips and or how toos?? anyone advise? any links or instructions for a newbie? where do I start. I really would like to make a nes.. but is there any that are easier? is the nes difficult????

Try this place though its a little incomplete it will help you though a lot and when you get to that point search the forum for the answer (most are common and easy to find).

oodles of information for all systems. Also, the NES is probably one of the easier systems IMO.

Yeah oh and um wait oh yeah you might wanna try a superjoy they are sometimes easier than an NES

Why not use what you've got first, besides the SuperJoy needs more soldering/desoldering then the NES needs.

yeah, they are in a N64 controller. Make sure it has a cart slot, though

Bens book is coming out in a bit...
If your going to use a real nes, it brings you through step by step the process of making a kick-&$# portable.

If it has not been released yet how do you know it brings you step by step through how to build a NES? If you have some insight into the book do you know what other systems he walks you through??

He composed the whole book from about June to October, we also got to see what the portable systems looked like when he finished them. If you are interested go intot the videogame section, portable units and click on the link titled "Project 42".

The NES is big though, so if made portable, you'd have a big portable nes

Yeah, I kinda thought the Project 42 NES was an NOAC model... but whatever. I could be wrong. NOACs are amazingly small though- you could make one so tiny so easily. Then again, you could take the even easier route and get a Game Theory Admiral

I think that thing is smaller than any of us could really do on our own... and much cheaper. Someone needs to mass-produce the NES adapter for it though (using the GTA slot and not some silly Famicom-NES adapter that tacks onto another already awkward adapter)

Although Ben has made the NOAC pirate NESp he didnt do that with the second one in his book. He couldnt as for one he was using original hardware and that means the old mobo and the second is the famiclones are gray market and wouldnt be all that good to involve them in your first book.

I think I will grab a copy of the book too! I was wondering two things.. what does he use for a screen? and how can the average joe make the kool casings he uses? The book claims that it takes a user step by step..will it explain how to make casings?? Has anyone seen pages or clips of the book yet?
