Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.
I thought it might interesting if not help to list ideas for alternate power supplys. something you have tried or just thought up.
i know a lot of us are looking for the cheapest but still reasonable ways to build a portable.
For me a sony camcorder battery is to expensive but i Kno if i use regular batteries after replacing them a few times i would regret not going with a sony battery.
Not being able to decide i did the stupid thing and started to think.
My first idea was using cell phone batteries. I checked one of my cell phones batteries and needless to say 3.2v is not going to cut. the batteries are small so what if a run a few together parrallel would that work

It is not junk! It is assorted goods with no current use.

My friends are always getting new cellphones and just leave their old one to collect dust so I can usually get whole phones for cheap if not nothing. The sweet thing would be that the phones would double over as chargers.
Better than my weird idea of solar power. MY teacher was throughing a bunch of calculators away and I thought that using the a bunch of the small solar panels might atleast help. Could be a way to slowly (I mean slowly) rechare the batteries while still in the portable. YEah i know crazy idea but it was school and i was half asleep.

Well, cell batts isn't a bad idea if you know where to look! For instance, my school throws away kid's cells all the time, so I just find 'em and harvest the Li-Ions. Wire 'em up in parallel, and you've got a pretty sweet little power supply!
Off train of thought but not topic: I am actually using tmh flexpak batts for my radica port. I found a whole bunch of them on clearance at woll-mort for 10 bucks a piece for bats and chargers in a set.
