Flashback 2 project.
I have been thinking of building a flashback 2 project. I have the joystick pinouts, I (almost) have a flashback 2, and I (almost) have a 4 inch pocket tv screen. I was wondering what the cost of the pocket TV screen would be, and what materials you guys use for your cases. I was thinking of using placticine (the kind you can bake) for the case and buttons, but it seems expensive. Any tips for materials for a case? (BTW, yes i know, guts first, then case)

A PSOne screen. Only the first party from sony. Either that or ANY console screen made by verge or zenith. all mentioned are the same.

If you want a building material you have to find your balance between price and ease of use. I would say if you can a dremal or simialr item and you can spend maybe $40 on the case material go with Acrylic (or plexiglass). Ben uses the stuff and all you have to do is cut it, stack it, glue it and then you can screw a back on to have access to the parts when you need.
As for the Screen, you can look on ebay for the PSone screen. They go for about $35 now.
Good luck on your portable.

an amazing thing about the flashback 2 is that it suits itself to a case mod. first if you hold it by the sides it is quite comfortable. second there is a tremendous amount of empty space on the inside; plenty enough for a screen and a battery (the screen would go in on the top in the front portion of the console with enough room for a joystick/pad on one side and a button on the other). the only problem is that if you look at the pictures of people who have added a cartridge slot to the console they put it in the front (where my screen will be) and i have not figured out a suitable alternative space for it.
A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do... with a gun rack?
That sounds nice, if you get a chance to do a drawing I'd love to see exactly what you want to do. And it's 5.25 (five and a quarter inch) floppy drive cable.linster wrote:I was thinking of having the cartridge port gameboy style, at the back of the case with a 5 3/4 floppy drive cable.

I already did a scale drawing, but it was with a 4 inch screen, instead of a 5 inch. So i will have to increase the size a little. I think (of the top of my head) that the dimentions are like 9 inches wide, 4 or 5 inches deep. Although to fit a cart, about 2/3 of the car would stick out the back (game boy style)
