Well being a PC guy I thought it was kinda odd, but hey I'm fine with it. I like Macs.

Actually it's not that different in the layout of where everything is. I used a Mac with OS 8 on it for three years, going by my memory they didn't change much going into OS X.

Also when upgrading to OS X, besure to check the compatibilty for you computer with say Panther. I know Jaguar will run on your machine but they made changes when going to Panther and Tiger, and that ment dropping older machines.

And Sword_Gun, the girl in the Apple commercial, she was Japanese.

You're right, it is different. In OS9, it's how I described, in OSX, the menu says "About this Mac" and then from that screen you can click "More Info" to go to the System Profiler. In OS9 and earlier they're are separate choices like I said. Also, in OS9 the "About this computer" menu shows how much memory individual applications are using.
I've used both interchangeably for a number of years, I know the differences.

well in that commercial it should say:

Mac: I have I tunes, I rock, and I Life
PC: well I can run almost any game and you can't.
Mac: Like what?
PC: Battlefield 2, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, the list goes on and on

PC: Plenty... PC also has a huge userbase and you dont pay 100 dollars to update from 10.3 to 10.4 like you mac users have to.
Mac: sounds like the average consumer would hate a mac.

Macs: Better audio and multimedia programs, generally faster and more stable hardware

Windows: More games, (but for someone like me that doesn't matter) viruses, spyware, cheaper, more available hardware, Pay $200 for Professional Edition, $100 for Home Edition, can't get media center on retail really, wait 6 years between major versions of the operating system

Linux: Runs on basically anything, does basically anything, harder to set up, less big shiny games, it costs nothing to legally obtain

I don't mind any of the systems. I want a mac because I used them for a long time and within 5 minutes of playing around on the demo G5 at CompUSA I was using it just fine. Linux is fun because I can do whatever I want with it and I won't have the police dragging me away. Windows has a lot of software out there, but you have to be careful that it's not spyware/adware or a trojan dropper. With the proper security measures in place it's just as secure as Mac OS X. (ie Ad-Aware, ZoneAlarm, AVG Anitvirus, and of course Firefox). I know a lot of you kids will probably say "omg windowz has better games so its better because there are more games for it." To be honest, I don't give two excrements about the latest, greatest, shiniest games. I have more important things to do with my time than sit for hours on end trying to shoot everybody in a level before the world explodes. If I want to play big, fancy games, I have a PS2 (which I don't use too much). I don't care if I have the right graphics card to play "Big Shiny Shoot-em-Up III with the Gore++ expansion pack", I'm just not really interested with PC gaming.

When Vista comes out and the software and hardware I use doesn't work on XP anymore, I'm switching to Mac, it has the same productivity software, but with faster hardware. Simple as that.

Basically, everything has its ups and downs. Windows vs. Mac is a pointless argument, much like Nintendo vs Sony vs Microsoft. Everything has its stong points, that doesn't make one thing overall better than another.

THERE'S MORE TO COMPUTERS THAN GAMES, PEOPLE! The number of games one platform is not a good basis of judgement.

Bic, the inner PC game loving demon inside me wants to argue with that last statement, but I'll resist

Other than that, you're right. Buy the right OS for your particular needs. My mom and dad should really switch to a mac, they don't need anything other than email and webviewer.

I'm one of those people who think the PC is a Gaming machine, infact, it's my favorite. Following my PC is Xbox, then PSP. But yes, i think each OS has its own usage. Basicly heres my idea:

Windows (XP): Games. Yes, to me thats all Windows is for, Games. I mean, how many games do you see suppporting Linux?

Linux: Show off, coding, and Internet. People Love Linux for it's mascot (Tux) and sometimes you can show off by using really hot looking Themes. Coding, and others. I see this used in Terminal. And the last one, Internet. The fact is, that if you bought a PC to just surf the web, Linux is the best choice.

Mac (OSX): Media and Productivity. Its got all those funky little programs like Garageband, iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, which all come with iLife. When it comes to word proccessing, Mac owns big time. It even has the most recent version of MS Word, well i suppose theres a 2007 beta out for us M$ users.

Just my 2 cents...

And who says Macs don't have any good games, I remember a literal line of kids at the library waiting just to use the iMac to play Nanosaur! (Which is still one of the best games of all time in my opinion

Well I know for a fact Panther works, I've got two of the same iMacs running it. Tiger should work anyway though... it just eats RAM!

My only comment (thus far) on this whole Mac vs PC debate is this: if you don't play games on your computer, what reason do you have for Windows? And with the switch to Intel and Boot Camp being released, you can run Windows on a Mac if you want to. So what's the downside to just owning a Mac?
