Viva Portugal!

Post by Gamelver »

Well, Portugal plays their first game in the World Cup tomorrow against Angola :). I hope they win :D!! They should pretty easily....

Anyway, is anyone else following the World Cup? I saw the first two games, but had to miss today's because I...er....slept in :P, but I'm gonna be catching all the rest since they're gonna be on ESPN and ABC and all those channels. Once again....Go Portugal :D!!!
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Only time I ever watch soccer on TV is during Maximum Exposure and a fight breaks out. I'm just not a sports watching guy I guess. Playing soccer is hella fun though.

Personally, I'd like to see either England or Spain get it. England because they have that kickass People's anthem, and Spain because they have paella :P (of course, if it's a country like the Ivory Coast, which supposedly had a break in their civil war because of this, I would be pretty happy :) )

Edit: never mind, looks like Ivory Coast is already out

I like to play sports with friends, not on a team. I like to watch sports teams, not friends. It's odd, but I'm gonna have to check it out I like to play soccer.

So America isn't that big in the soccer scene I've heard?

Yah, America's got football. Canada's got hockey and the rest of the world has soccer.

USA's ranked 5th or something, they aren't expeceted to get that far.
Germany, the host, has the easiest group by a mile. They should be able to walk right through the preliminaries.
Portugal beat Angola 1-0, and will play Mexico on Friday. Good luck with that.
I predict England vs. Brasil in the cup match, or at least I hope it ends up that way, because that would be one damn good game of soccer.

yeah, we won :D....but they weren't playing great :|. Deco didn't play though, so we were a little bit weakened by that, of course ;). Anyway, out of Group D, Portugal and Mexico will most likely go on to the next round.

and those ranking systems suck :P. USA is 5th, yet they'll be hard pressed to come out of their group (it is a hard one, though). We'll see how they do tomorrow, I suppose.

Oh my, it's serious thread revival time!

....well, today was a big day in football for me. Portugal won 2-0 against Iran, ensuring our entrance in the Round of 16. The USA tied Italy 1-1, meaning they'll have a hard time getting out of their group...Ghana beat the Czech Republic, also, 2-0, which was a big surprise.

US and Italy just finished playing, and tied 1-1. The referee was out of his mind though, giving a red card immediatly to an American for a late slide. The Italians elbowed and American in the face and made him bleed!
