Gamecube on the "unusable" of screens?

Well, I was monitering the back of my defective (now working) gamecube and I analyzed a little port that said "Digital out." Could this be connected somehow to a laptop screen, seeing as they use digital?

I don't think it would work, but I would like to know what has digital in, I've only seen out.

Laptop screens rely on the chips specific to that laptop. I really don't see how it could possibly work, even if the GC has a "Digital Out".

the "Digital Out" is on many DVD players and also the PS2. This is also called Digital Out Audio. It uses an optical cable to transmit audio in a more preserved state. Don't worry about it.

My favorite words ever made are "computerized" and "Digital". Why, you ask? becuse they are simply thrown out by people who don't know a thing about technology. Suddenly everything is "digital" or "Computerized".
Guess what. An abacus is both "digital" (uses 0s and 1s) and "computerized" (preforms mathmatical functions) can a abacus

its not optical i dont think. theres an 'electrical' digital audio standard, SPDIF, and i think it might have some kind of digital video.

it is a proprietary digital video out and digital audio out. The nintendo component cables (which nintendo no longer sells) contain a chip which can translate it to either component video (which is neither composite nor RGB) or VGA.

Only nintendo made cables that work with that port, as they never gave out the specs. So ebay and a few other places are the only place to get the cable. VGA requires a mod to the cable. However, you can adapt it to spdif using the schematic on this page

So I don't know how reliable it is. Information on GameSX is usually correct, but I'd hate to wreck an expensive/rare component cable on something that is untested.

I was worried enough when I thought I was going to wreck my component cable when I tried this mod - VGA Mod
But fortunately it worked great and now I can play my games in progressive scan on a monitor.

The actual cords for GC that take the Digital out to a TV places are rare and equally pricy. There's a YTMND somewhere making fun of a guy who paid like $100 for one.
