Genesis2 portable batteries

for charging that thing, i know that battery space sells a charger for any 12-15volt ni-mh battery that is what i used in my first GCp at 14.4volts and what i am using in another one at 12 volts.

Thx I'll try it out. Can I just take half of the cells and use a 7,2V charger? I don't think I need 14,4V to power a genesis + screen. There's also some transistors, diodes and ic's soldered to the wires that connect the batteries, can I take them off?
EDIT: Will that wall plug fit in a Europian one?

A Genesis 2 runs off of about 7 volts, and a PSOne screen runs off about the same. You won't even have to cut any of the cells out of a 7.2V battery; why not just use a Ni-MH battery from RadioShack that runs off 7.2V?

Well yes he can run power from the batteries straight to the console and screen. However the Geneses (v.2) runs off of 5v, the voltage is sent to a 7805 regulator, you'll know it by the hugh heatsink it's got on top of it.

Really if you have a better outputing 7.2v, just plug it into the 7805 regulator on the Genesis' board, no point it messing with it anymore then that.

If I had a 7,2V battery that's what I would do, but the battery is 14,4V (^)

Well, since 14.4/2=7.2, is it possible to open the battery and rearrange the cells into a 7.2V battery with twice as much current? If not, a DC-DC converter may be a good choice too.

I suggest ( if you do the parrallel thing) get this:

It'd take around 4-5 hrs to charge which is... OK I guess considering it's 8000mah

I dunno, you guys said my genesis is huge so if I put the battery in it, it's gonna be gigantic! Also I don't really need 8000mAh considering it is a genesis and not an X-box.

i dont see why you couldnt do this. you just have to find a charger for a 7.2 volt battery. i think radio shack sells them though

Well, that charger from Radioshack is no longer sold alone, at least around me; yeah, it stinks. Seeing as the kit comes with an okay battery, why not just buy that and use that battery until you wanna upgrade? Oh, and the package is $25 from the shack, coming with a 7.2V, 2000mAh batt and Ni-Cd+Ni-MH charger.
