Sega Nomad

Post by jaytee »

While I'm excited with all this Radica Genesis talk and the potential for a really good portable Genesis...

I just bought a Nomad for five dollars at a thrift shop.

I'm just happy.

Especially after spending $25 on a sometimes working Genesis3 a few weeks earlier, which I now have an excuse to rip apart/mod.

Yea, I nearly fainted I think.

Does anyone know if the power supply for a Genesis3 is compatible with the Nomad? I can't find anything about it on the internet.

well, how many batteries does the Nomad take/what voltage is it, and what does it say on the Gen 3 adapter(Volts and Milliamps)?
Warranty-Voiding fun!

I've seen them for $40 in the past, and almost got one once.

The Nomad takes 6 AAs. The sticker on the back says its rated for DC9V 3.5W.
I'm not sure on the Gen3 power supply, its in my room at college right now, so I'm not gonna have it for 2.5 weeks. I was hoping someone would know offhand.
The Nomad is compatible with the GameGear/Gen2 power supply, if I remember right, but I wasn't sure if the Gen2 and Gen3 power supplies were the same.

If your going to power it I'd say if you can find an adapter that fits the Nomad use one that outputs 9v at 500mA. I dont see the Nomad or Genesis for that matter drawing any more, also I do remember using the NES AC adapter to power the Genesis loong ago.
