NOAC voltage.

I've got a Maxx player (Power Joy knock off), it's powered by 4 1.5v AAAs and I want to know if I can power it with unregulated 7.2v from a Infolithuim L. Or will that fry it? There is a little regulator for the power on the Intec screen I'm using, I think it has a 7808 code on it. 12v goes into it directly from the wall adapter. Does anyone know what that outputs at? Because if it outputs at +6 or somthing very close, I could just wire that to my Maxx, and I'd be golden. And if not, can anybody give me the name of a regulator that will knock 7.2v to ~6v? Or will 5v from a 7805 power the maxx?

I am pretty sure all NOACs run off of +5v. And, btw, you live about 30 minutes away from me.
