Role Playing

Post by Sparkfist »

Any one do any old school RPG?

I recently got into it with a couple friends. The world we're playing in is Rifts. At the moment I really don't know jack squat. Playing an RPG with a controller is far easier then figuring out the way to attack in a classic RPG. I'll just have to be patient and learn.

I just bought a lot of 2nd edition AD&D stuff off of ebay to start playing again. I was going to DM for my sons, ages 10 and 12, if I can ever get them to do their homework.

The former, it's like D&D.

I'm wondering if anyone else plays as games are really the prime way to go today when you want to roll play. The big difference is that I spent $6 on dice, about 3 hours making a character and maybe 12+ hours reading about the world I'm playing in. And after all that I'm still only hit the tip of all there is.

yeah I used to play it some in an RPG club with my friends at school, but they all kinda fell out of it, and next year they are mostly going to be gone, so I don't really have anyone to play with now. I'd like to get into it, but I'm having the same problem finding people who want to play it.

Yea I wanted to have a game night around my house but I couldn't muster up enough friends who wanted to spend their friday nights playing D&D instead of something other than D&D (Heck I was gonna DM too...)

That's like how it's orginized with the group I'm with. We meet on Sunday night, and really there are just 3 of us.

To be honest I'd wanted to get into it during high school. It interested me but the friends I had that played it and I never asked nor was I invited to play. So it just became one of those things I has a suttle regret I never tried out.

I wanted to get into it once, but it just wasn't for me. I did play a pbem for about five years, but it did not have any real structure to it (no dice, no hit calculations, nothing but story telling, basically).

im on the zelda d20 forums, but as for classic tabletops, i invited 2 friends that didnt really know anything about them over to play. i they got board after 15 minutes, though the game did last 3 hours. theres really nobody i know who likes them. my brother and his friends do, but there 10 and 11. there parents wont let them play cuz of all the things about D&D 10 years ago. (i wasnt allowed to play until i was 13 1/2, and i had to beg my mom, i even written a story about how it was good for you)

I only like Turnbased RP's like FF7, where you run into battles.. not none of this new WOW stuff.
