SNES cartridge battery?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Okay, I have somewhat of a question. My copy of Terranigma was erasing on me periodically, and now so is my new copy of A Link to the Past. Is that because of the battery being almost dead? If so, could anyone pull me up a link to the coin/watch battery with the solder tabs from www.allelectronics.com ? The URL won't load for me  ...

Yes, that is most likey the culprit. Get a small Li-ion with 3v at power101. Mainly because they are tiny.

I'd really prefer a coin battery, seeing as it'd fit right where the old one is. I'm already nervous enough, seeing as I don't wanna kill the game; which of these would be best?

Choice 1: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/i ... 2450_.html

Choice 2: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/i ... CELL_.html

I also saw each of these in an equivalent battery, only the other one said "button" cell instead of "coin". Which is right?

EDIT: Okay, I smashed open one of my broken Super Mario World carts, and I found what's holding the battery in place. Do you desolder the leads from the metal holders going to the battery, or just pull the battery out? There doesn't seem to be any solder on the battery itself... :?

Don't try to desolder the tabs from the battery itself-it might explode!

Chrono, those are the right batteries, I believe, but they need the tabs. (Unless you want to risk soldering wires on to the battery.)

Okay. I REALLY don't want to solder to a battery; where can I buy a battery with a solder tab already installed?

Double Post: Okay, I found a how-to/part list! It's really quite neat, I never thought of heating up an X-Acto or taping the battery in.

Could you hot glue the battery down?

Only a few carts are like that, the rest are puncture connected.

I had to replace the battery for my copy of Zelda 2 gold, I just soldered the tabs to the battery and it didn't pop. You've just got to do it quick and have some cold water near by.
