sparks and smoke

An inductor is just a spirally wire to my knowledge. There is some magnetic principle that cleans electric signal or some crap like that.

Ok. The smoke is coming from the inductor.
It's probably from some glue that is stuck to it.
But why is it getting that god dam hot. I can feel the heat on my face from a foot away, after like 5 seconds.

maybe it can't handle the curent for an N64

Its not hooked up to the n64. Just a multimeter to figure out if its working.(also a battery but thats a given)

well your sparks are usually caused with contacts that are not fully connected also ake sure you buy a higher amp inductor it should be able to handel the amps without getting incredibly hot, they do usually get a little warm

Ps. the inductor needs to handle a whole 2 amps

Yeah i figured the sparks part. The smoke stopped(probablly because i burt off all the glue lol) but im not getting anything out of it. The 3.3 isn't coming.

Oh the inductor, I didn't buy it, i tore it off a fried gamecube screen.

the inductor is clearly too small.

it should work without the inductor. get it working with just the converter and capacitor first.

alright i got it to work. How could i tell what size my inductor is right now?(so i can buy another one later) Is it important?

usually getting one out of apower supply that has about the same volts and amps will work

check the power ratins and see if the amps are pretty close

But I think since you got it out of a gamecube screen it is designed for smaller amps gut one from an old (possibly fried) power supply (the fried ones usually fried the transformers just check it with the reistance setting on your voltmeter to see if it works)

Anyway hope you get what you need

yeah, i pulled my inductor from a pc power supply, and its working perfectly, im pulling around 3.31v after making mine yesterday.
