How so cheap? over in britain a Pentium D 2.8 with crappy graphics card and low amount of ram but fast ram costs a crap load a few months ago!bicostp wrote:Nice! Here's my primary PC:
3.0 ghz Celeron or P4. (I forget and the processor didn't come with a sticker...)
1 gig RAM
160 gig HD (full of Linux ISOs and videos)
ATI RADEON 9200 128 MB graphics card
Windows XP Professional SP1 (I hate SP2, and I'm not completely comfortable with working with Linux, mostly with debugging and the bash shell, so I don't want to run it as a primary OS just yet)
Microstar International (MSI) PM8M-V motherboard
Total cost: $250 USD
My laptop:
Toshiba Sattelite Pro
500mhz P3
15 GB HD
DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional SP1
If I find one really cheap I may buy a cheapo Wal-Mart PC just to mess around with. (my current tinker PC is pretty slow, P2 300.)

*bows down with awe* Those are by far the _worst_ computers I've ever seen someone actually use... I get computer for free that are better than those lol... I bought a 1.2ghz Athlon Firebird computer for 20 bucks from a friend of mine.im_an_alien wrote:Everyone's computers totaly pwn mine

My main computer isn't that great, but I've spent around 1200$ on it, 800 when I built it and more here and there.
Chaintech NF4 mobo I think(been a while since I built it)
Athlon 64 3000+ Venice, 1.8Ghz stock overclocked to 2.25Ghz
2x512mb ram(wow that makes me sad that I don't remember the name of it... 2.5-2-3-5 1T timings though)
300gb + 120gb storage (I'm hoping to get another 300gb soon, I've got like 2% free space, it sucks)
nVidia 6600GT, overclocked to 511/1.11
Generic video card as my onboard connection decided to stop working :/
One of these days once I get a job I'm hoping to get a new Opteron dual-core system, a new videocard, and a nice soundcard, my onboard sucks.
I'm looking to assemble my own computer later Can anyone point me in the direction of a very goo mobo that supports SLI, dual dual core processors, plently of PCI slots and works very well for an overclock...I'm just trying to get informed right now
oh yea AMD preferably

lol. It runs all my basic applications (gimp, openoffice, opera, blender, and a few others) pretty fast so I never saw much reason to upgrade. And the DOS one has some great games and stuff (Atari w00t!!!) It can run SNES games, and I have 452 Atari 2600 games, and some good computer games, such as mortar mayhem (best tank game ever, one of those where you do power/angle and try to kill the other player).. I actually use my mom's _nice_ computer for good games and stuff. It's WinXP, 3.1GHz, 160GB HD, 512MB RAM...xelion wrote:*bows down with awe* Those are by far the _worst_ computers I've ever seen someone actually use...
