Howto: Take a photo

I think it's because most people here don't have digital cameras so they take really pitiful shots with their webcam.

Though I have a good camera, and I take good pictures. Observe!

Hmm, that's the only picture I have on-hand right now. Kinda random.

A portable typewriter! Sweet!

Nice guide anotherperson (your name is hard to say). What I need help with is resizing pictures. I've tried MSpaint, a XPpowerplug in thing, and a few other programs and they all do a poor job of keeping the photo quality intact while making it a smaller .jpg. Can you reccomend anything?

Sometimes Photobucket will give your photo a good shrinking, but only when you don't want it to.

Meh, and that typewriter stinks, I have another one that's also portable, and it's the leetest durn typewriter you've ever seen!

(Oh, and be sure to take a gander at the 80's-ish word processor in the background!)

the best scaling thing i've seen is the drawing part of openoffice. it's not exactly made for that so you don't just open a picture, scale it, and save it; you have to insert a picture, scale it, screenshot, paste it in MSpaint and crop it, and then save it. it's a bit of a hassle but it works great. of course openoffice is a bit big to download with dial-up but you could download it at a friend's house and put it on a CD or zip drive or something. is there anything that can do it without all the screenshot and cropping stuff?

Oh yeah, Word has great scaling too, but you'll have to go through the same stuff Daguuy said...

for an basic photo editing i use IRfanview , its great for resizing and enhancing the pics

Yeah, I took a lot of glamour shots of the things and threw them up on the trading post a long time ago. I used Sgt. Pepper for size reference.

Thanks! that was exactly what I was looking for. It even has a batch conversion option, and you can select the compression. Perfect!

This program rocks, and it's free but better than GIMP which can slow down compys. Photoimpression and I work together to create such beautiful mangled, splices, and manipulated photos such as this:
