my favorite kind of case is a cigar box. its really cheap and easy to mod. the only problem is the wood holds a lot of heat. Most cigar shops will give you an empty cigar box for free. the cigar emporium near my house sells them for 5 dollars normally but if I tell the owner its for a project he will usually just give some to me.

Yeah, definitely use plexi and aluminum. Here's mine. Its a little messy, but you get the point.
BTW I'm not using that case anymore, it just wasn't working out. I'm revamping the project with a slightly bigger, straighter case. Now if I could just unsuperglue that PSOne screen.
When are you getting deployed?

I am vacuum forming my case. My former is about 80% complete; i just have to put support columns under the cookie sheet and then screw/seal it to the rig i am using. It shouldn't take more than an hour to do. Everything cost in total around 25 bucks to build
(mainly because i already had a box i could use that was exactly the right width and height i needed, plus my neighbor let me use his 2HP shop-vac). The only problem was that the silicone caulk i was using was crap, so i decided to use hot glue to make the seals (it works, i've tested it; you just have to apply pressure while dispensing the glue and it will form into all the nooks and crannies of whatever surfaces your trying to seal together).
I haven't even started my buck yet, so that'll be a long time coming. I need to complete my N64 "innerds" before i can start on the case buck (the N64 is around 65% done, i am scaling down everything so i know what dimensions i have to work with).

1) Slap your friend across the face for buying an ipod. They're made to fail after a year or two, regardless of how well you care for them.
2) Slap him again.
3) Go buy him a Creative Zen or something.

well i found my case. Its what we call a fast pack in the Navy. Its a 9x11 plastic box, that im going to mod, so that the top is replaced by a sheet of styrene, with inset screen and controls. Theres a pic on my site, go to the pics section and you will see it.

yeah, its going to be flipped on its side, with the screen at the top, sort of like a gameboy, the controls will be at the bottom, with L, R and Z on the back respectively. Not sure yet if i want to keep the D pad.
BTW thanks for the image post, how do you imbed? I used to know how but forgot. Something like [img] blah blah blah [img] i think.
