Overclocked GBC

Post by vskid »

With Skyone's help, I've been modding my GBC these past few days. I overclocked the GBC to about 14mhz, or about 1.75x original speed. I also built-in a rechargable battery pack I had for it, because originally it stuck out of the back and was annoying. It can now play/charger with any ni-mh AA batteries, internally. For pictures and crappy (I mean crappy) videos, go to http://www.vskid3.tk, click updates/blog, and there is a link to it on the 5-21-06 entry.
Now I can finish my science term project, which is due tomorrow. :?

As I said, I have a project due tomorrow.
Since there is intrest, I'll make instructions within the week, maybe.

EDIT: Here is the guide I used, so tell me if I should still make instructions.

Just make sure you can find a crystal of the right speed, 14 mhz still leaves enough control to turn around and check pikachu's mood on pokemon yellow. Can anyone tell that there are speed impromements in the videos? And if you follow the guide I did, the writer said that there is no room for the new crystal inside, when there is actually plenty, as you can see in a couple of my pics.
If anyone wants to know what the battery pack looked like, I'll post a pic of the remains.

Turned out nice, I like how you displayed the crystal in the front of the case. ;)

Try http://www.freewebs.com/vskid3/, for some reason my .tk won't work me either.
Do the exact same thing to get to the stuff.

EDIT: .tk is down, I tried another .tk site and it didn't work.

EDIT2: .tk works now.

K first of all you need too know what a clock signal does. If two proccesors communicate they need too know when too check for a signal (on/off) and when too send one. Clock signals are used to syncronize two processors with each other. but sometimes it can't give the data fast enough and a waiting line (so too speak) is made. This makes the game run slower. Overclocking is
making the clock signal go faster making the waiting line go faster. It's kinda hard too explain look on wikipedia for more details.

I put an audio clip of pokemon yellow playing on my site (just go to updates and 5-22-06) so that you can know how awesome the fast sounds are.
I took it to school today and showed it off on the bus. I got comments like "cool" and "its so fast!".
