ps2 battery problem

can anyone help with a ps2 slimline battery fault. I have a 9V battery with a 6000mah output, the problem is that when I plug the battery into the ps2 the red power light comes on but when you press the power button on the light goes off and nothing happens, when you take your finger off the power it goes back to red. any help would be much appreciated.

what kind of battery? is it fully charged?

sounds like it cant provide enough power.

the pack is made up of 8, 1.2V nimh batteries with a 2ooomah rating. I have 3 of these wired in parallel. when I used my multi meter it showed over 9V. all the battries were fully charged before trying

well, i believe putting the batteries in parallel will not increase the voltage. I think that you have to put them in a series to increase the voltage. then again, i might be wrong... anybody?

The pack has 8 1.2v batteries in series (9.6v), and he has three packs in parallel to increase mah (playtime).

i think 9 might be to much for a slim PS2 im not sure but doesnt it run closer to 7.2. and do yopu have 24 batteries wired up to that thing

Just wire 'em up in series for now, and see if that works. Make sure you only get 7.2V, though, because the PS2 (either version) won't take 9V. Trust me; been there, done that. So after youv'e tested the series batts (remember, source=load in series) then you can work with the more fancy stuff.

WARNING: Remember that the law of electricity is to take the path of least resistance. So if you were to wire your PS2 in parallel, power would not be getting to key points of the board. Most likely, the power diverted from the chips/resistors/capacitors or whatever else, and found an easy path like the power LED and is just running that. So try series and see if that works.

yes their is 24 batteries. im putting the ps2 in a backpack and am using some sony glasstron goggles for the display. i want to use it down the beach when i go on holiday, so im gonna need a lot of batteries.

i tried using a 7.2v/ 2000mah battery but after a couple of minutes, it seems that the voltage drops too much for the ps2 to stay powered. would a 8.4v/ 3000mah battery compensate for the voltage drop? thanx

why dont you try some lithium polymers, they are very small and very powerful, id reccomend some from batteryspace.com
