It's my opinion that this thread wasn't spam at all. He was posting something new to him; something he thought might interest us. I had never heard of these things before. So I appreciated this thread.

That Flaslight could be used to recharge portables. Just shake N' bake.

wow, that's annoying to read :P

But for what you said, I kinda doubt it... flashlights take relatively little electricity.

The button batteries are there to store the electricity generated by the shaking. Otherwise you'd have to shake it while trying to use it!

The things do work, but not as easily as they seem to on TV. They have that blondy jently rocking it back and forth two or three times, while in reality you really have to SHAKE that thing.

:( Sorry about the rainbow, I was playing with HTML. If you think it was annoy read? It was more annoying to write.
Anyway, I got that idea from a guy charging his ipod with a crank flashlight.

Wow , this thread has been littered on. Anyways, there's really a rechargable battery inside, and the shaking just recharges it. Is it just me or does this forum have a problem with spamming?

Gosh the flash lite works by having a magnet (which exerts a magnetic field)
and when you shake it, the moving magnetic field creates a current (which is what electricity really is) When the current is established, it goes to a very small RC Circuit (discharging capacitor) Leds do not function like normal flash bulbs with gas, Leds work when there is current, not a specific current, but current (as long as they are not overdriven that is current overload and the diode itself is no longer functioning properly, if the curent was ac the diode would be fried) anyway

Current passes through the capacitor and the capacitor is charged then the resistor regulates how much charge is released, that new current goes to the LED and you get light

IT IS NOT A BLASTER RECHARGABLE BATTERY THAT IS WHY THE BLOODY THING IS GUARANTEED FOR LIFE!!!!!

JUST DO NOT RUIN THE MAGNET BY HEATING IT OR DROPPING IT !!!

IT AIN'T A BLOODY BATTERY!

Sorry if that seemed harsh but I wanted ya'll to know whta was REALLY Happening ( I took two semesters of calculus based physics i should know)

I'm still in high school and I knew that. I just didn't feel like explaining it. Wasn't worth it.

Yes, but the shaking idea could in theory, probably not in practicality be used to charge batteries as well. Plug in your shaking charger (I would not have it built in, as the magnet can't be good for the lcd) and shake. The magnet coil thingy produces electricity, which runs down the wire, through the plug, and into the batteries. Of course, I'm sure that 30 minutes of shaking would only give a minute or 2 of playtime, so it's probably not even worth it.

Anyway, I think that's what everyone was thinking, or something along those lines

To settle this whole silly debate I JUST took mine ["Mine" defined as the shake-to-recharge flashlight I own, and "just" meaning a few moments before I posted this] apart and there are indeed two CR2032 button cell lithium batteries in it! I even took the liberty of testing them with a multimeter just in case any one wants to question my ability to read the writing on batteries, and they do indeed read 3 Volts apiece. SO. THERE. Once again mine is the just knock of brand complete with Engrish manual, the one on T.V. may be different.

It's not that I am particularly mad at any one of you, It just gets me mad when people start going on about calculus when about 3 minutes of unscrewing the thing to look at the innards would provide the answer. :? But... CR2032s aren't rechargable... are they? This is confusing me.

Which was my point in my original post in this thread, that the coil/magnet might just be for show and it doesn't recharge them at all. Or maybe they are rechargeable batteries, which might be true since there was some Chinese text on them, which might have said something like "rechargeable" or maybe something about "all you're base" I might be paraphrasing , we'll never know for sure since I can't read Chinese, or speak it, or understand it, or write in it, or well doing anything much else with it either!
