New GBA!
I decided a good idea!
I was going to get a TV de Advance adaptor, add some joypad ports to my GBA and make a new shell for it so it looks slightly like an N64, so it is kind of a new console but plays GB, GBC and GBA games, also with the movie adaptor you can watch movies on your TV. Please send feedback and if you have any help, please send that to!

that would be pretty cool. Keep in mind that you can also use a gameboy player if you have a GCN. If you had your heart set on a Nintendo 64 look, you could also get one cheap (broken, even) and use that for a case.

Someone's already done the mods you require (and more) visit http://pages.prodigy.net/tan.ax/GBACons ... onsole.htm for more info.
It sounds like a nice mod to do. I still think that its a little weird thoug, your using a PSOne screen as the monitor and a NeoGeo controller as replacement. What a mismash of gaming hard ware.

I saw the GBA console, thats really what I am trying to make, something like his MiracleRay, but a more console-like instead, and it will run from a rechargable battery, and maybe even have in a LCD screen attachment (could be gamecube screen) that would plug into the transverser or TV adaptor.

Somebody please buy my Dreamcast >_> £20+shipping

I like this Idea.
I'm starting to think that it'd be a good thing to do with this extra GBA I have laying around.
Also, does anyone know how hard it would be to switch an SNES controller to work as replacement for the GBA? I have four of them, and only one (not being moded) SNES.

And so connecting the SNES controller to the GBA would be illogical... Sorry I couldnt help myself.
You scenes I dont plan to use my PSOne screen anytime soon, would the bast place be to fing a NEOGEO controller be ebay or are there other places?

Well, here's what I'd try to do, but most systems have circuitry inside the controllers instead of straight pin to pin, so gutting the SNES controller and making it custom is almost a certainty.deadite wrote:I'm starting to think that it'd be a good thing to do with this extra GBA I have laying around.

connect traces to the pads that the buttons hit inside the GBA, namely GND, Up, Down, Left, Right, A, B, Start, Select, L, and R.
This is 11 connections, so to get it to work with the SNES's 7 pin connector, you may need to do something with the D-Pad connections or something. If you used a 9-pin connector like most every 70s and 80s system(and even the Genesis) used, it'd be a bit easier, though still difficult, as you'd have a pin for almost each button needed by the GBA as well as ground. Since you'd need to gut the SNES controller anyway, I'd spring for an HD-15 connector (PC VGA video connector) or a normal 15-pin plug (Sound Card Game Port / Macintosh Video Out). Old video cards and video card cables are dirt cheap, cheaper than the controller you are butchering if you check the right places.
Cut out the SNES controller's chips and stuff and start directly connecting button traces in the GBA to button traces in the SNES controller, via the 15 pin connector.
So now you have 11 lines used, 4 extra. You can leave it at that, but where is the fun there? ^^ Notice the two lonely buttons on the SNES controller? Time to make a simple turbo function for buttons A and B!
Okay, to make a simple turbo button, this is what you have to do:
Sub is the name of the button you want to turn into a turbo button, and Main is the button you want it to be the turbo of. Say you wanted to make X a turbo button for A, X would be Sub, and A would be Main.
Main on controller is the main button on the SNES
Sub on controller is the turbo button on the SNES
Main wire carries the signal to the main trace on the GBA
Main button is the equivalent of the main button on the GBA.
...........................................................................................................
+----Sub on controller-------Timer Chip------Main wire into GBA..........
|.........................................................................|................................
+3V(or whatever).....................................Main button----GND................
|.........................................................................|................................
+---Main on controller--------------------------------+...............................
...........................................................................................................
That is what you need to make a normal and turbo button, and it does not take up any lines to the controller.
Now you have a SNES-type controller with turbo and 4 extra input lines in the cartridge connector for whatever you want.
If you want to regulate turbo frequency, you can use a slightly more complex circuit that has a potentiometer connected to the timer chip.
The only problem with that is finding a timer chip that runs on 3 Volts, but maybe you can even use a clock crystal or something instead if you can't find one. ^^
Once you do this though, your controller with never work with anything else....
Warranty-Voiding fun!

I've actualy already put a GBA and the TV de Advance adaptor into a SNES console case and a Super Gameboy case. I've also been trying to figure out a way to use any SNES controller for it too. I've done some research and I'm actually almost done with building a snes controller decoder. This would be a way better solution then MM007's solution because this wouldn't require any modifications to your SNES controller. You can check out this topic at another forum at this link http://nfg.2y.net/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=984. Basicly right now, I can decode all of the button presses into single signals, BUT I can only do this if I use a SNES running a snes game because I use it for clocking/timming reasons.
