atari joystick

hey as sort of a boredom project i want to make my own atari controller, i've examined the chips and there are no ic's or anything on it, so can i just remove the wires from it and hook them up to tact switches in the necessary way, or does the chip have sum programming in it?

Those pinouts are correct for your purposes, but for what it's worth, those "NC" points are really used for the paddles.

Well, it's not very obvious until after you post. The message things are pretty much the exact same. Of course, that doesn't excuse the multiple section thing.
