portable dvd players

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Long answer: it's quite possible...You'd have to first make sure that the DVD components could be removed easily, or at least that the DVD part can have it's output stopped. Then, just determine what circuits actually need to be there (like if the circuit board for DVD reading and composite input for the screen are different). Find out where to input power and video and it should work :). Basically, you're cutting the output of the DVD reader, removing any unnecessary components, and using the rest of the components for the screen.

Short answer: yes :P.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Unless the screen is a digital screen. And has a little composite to digital converter inside wich won't work without the dvd part.
