cut carts?

is there any empty space in NES carts?
this always bothered me that people had to carry around such big carts whent he portable can be so small
i dont own any carts and dont have any interest in building a NESp but i was just wondering if there is space in there so people with NESp can make their carts smaller

Depends on the pcb, but normally (unless the game is huge) there's 50% or more left

Well, most of the guts for an NESp happen to be almost exactly the same size as an NES cart, with the exception of some rare instances (NES Pocket, NES Micro, etc.)

but if people with portables want to carry around multiple nes carts they should thick about choppin them in half

What is the point in cutting a cart? If you do that, you can't use the cart in a regular NES anymore, and it would not look any good.

I wouldn't dare to ever cut up any of my nes carts. I guess you could make a hinged cartrage and swap in the game boards that you wanted to play.

Either that or do what Fanboy is doing and use Famicom cartrages.

It depends on the case too. Like on mine it just hangs out, so the size dosn't matter (thats the only time I will ever say that)

But if you wanted to defile yopur carts just for the easier size, you could cut it in half, then glue plastic to each end you cut, then use some of that 3M SUPERvelcro stuff they sell at radio shack to connect the two halves. It would work and still look stock except for the line where the halves connect.

A lot of the time, portablizers work the large cartridges to their advantage. The NES Micro's carts make up a more confortable grip, and for nPod, it gives you a better width and grip (Damn, I want one of those). With some NESps, the cartridge is removed from the main body of the console all together and doesn't get in the way (NES Boy). So the cartridges don't really get in the way no matter what you do, and most people only need 1-4 carts to keep them entertained (due to the NES's fantastic gameplay)...

Oh, and: YAY! I was mentioned! I'm thinking of modding my PF to use NES carts later in life though...
