dude, why dont you use a portable cd player? then you would only need to give it 3v, it would draw way less current (maybe 200mA max), and be much smaller.

also... how are you going to clock the data? blind timing?

The timing works on a agr (atari game recorder) so why wouldn't it work on this?

well for one thing they are completely different technologies.

but im not saying it wont work, i just want to know how its going to be done

(actually, after thinking about it, i think i figured it out - sound on tapes and cds is stored as stereo! so you can use one channel for data and one for clock. i figure this is how the agr probably works)

As for why i'm using a computer CD-ROM drive, it's because I like the sliding tray. It's only an asthetic (did I spell that right?) thing.

The data storage idea for this project sounds really cool. It reminds me of the way computer magazines could give out computer programs with the mag. One page would be a flexidisc (thin plastic record) that you then played and recorded onto tape, which then goes into your tape drive!
