Hard Drive for PS2 slim

Post by Maverike_prime »

Hey all, does anyone know if the PS2 slim version can use a hard drive? I know physically it doesn't have the space to accomidate it, but remove space from the equation. Does it have the connection for it? and if so what kind of hard drive will it take?

It could use a Normal one, in a box that lets you connect it to the PS2 Via USB. That could be the only way.

Errrrr! Wrong Awnser.

Actually the PS2 (2?) can be connected to a hard drive, it's just very tedious to solder.

Okay so short answer: It can be done. But for what I'm doing (portable ps2) it's more trouble then it'd be worth. I'll just install a 32mb memory chip and make it internal (or a 64 If I can find one)

Wait... Why go through the trouble to play one game?
Okay, it supported two games, but the second one stank so much I don't even remember the name.

yea, it's a a lot of trouble (which is why I never included it in my PS2p), and it can ONLY be done on a v12 or v13....which are the two versions that have mod chip/lens frying problems :O So just use a USB and shove a 64meg memory in there ;)

Wait, will the PS2 reconize a USB storage device as a memory option?

if you think about it it can be designed for a portable, all you need to do is get the wires soldered to some parallel ports and then use those as a "Detacable hard drive" however the usb thing sounds much easier :?

Yes, I have read that you can do this. I don't remember if you need a mod chip though, as it may require a homebrew application to make the system recognize the external hard drive.
